A friend of mine just received a new carom cue from a well known cue company. It was "custom" whatever that means. Standard model but not so standard that they keep it in stock, has a name not a number. They had to build it.
After some delays my friend received this cue. It is a mess. First of all, the finish is matte. It shouldn't be, in a few places it is shiny like it should be. You can really tell at the joint. The contrast between the shiny shaft and the matte butt is really apparent. Especially when you see the one spot towards near the joint that actually is shiny. Also, around the rings the finish is all bubbled and broken. The coup de gr?ce was that one of the inlays had a big chip out of it (under the finish) that had been filled in with black (white inlay, black filler).
Not only was the butt totally messed up, but they messed up the order. My friend ordered specific shafts and received other ones. Shorted his
Now, as shocking as this may sound, I'm not starting this thread to complain. I called the company for my friend (he doesn't really speak english) and they made offered to make it right. No problem, no questions asked. Because of that, I'm not going to say the company's name, they were really good about this problem once they knew about it.
I'm just curious, has anybody else ever received a cue where, with just a glance, you can clearly see bad workmanship practically everywhere? This order was over $2000 (2 butts and many shafts), and when I saw this cue I literally laughed out loud.
