Just got a shaft back from my cuebuilder.
Have two with same basic profile..have recently made a radical change for me from 13 mm to 11.8, Z-2ish taper, short ferrule, BEM.
One has a 7/16 Ageis ferrule , with a 'Dawgdud' (thanks Jeff) that hits real nice.
The other was same except with a Kamui brown -medium. It hit good too, but some miscues if I didn't keep the 'glaze' off of the tip with the needed maintenance. I got lazy and was breaking with it, and cracked the ferrule..so it went to the shop.
So, the latest setup is a Kamui black-medium, with 7/16 ivory ferrule(I won't be breaking with this shaft).
I like to experiment a bit...I am finding that I like the smaller tip. Staying closer to center still spins it pretty good. Possibly some combination of smaller tip, small ferrule, yet some perceived additional backbone from the BEM...is making a nice combination.
We'll see how the ivory ferrule hits and feels...If it doesn't work out..I'll change to something else.
....Any body else use this combo? or have an opinion on another formula that you tried and liked? or a BEM shaft opinion?....Note: since I like the patina of hand oil and blue chalk...the 'figure' does become pronounced..but so far not distracting...just different.
Weird...I know...but the ferrule gotta be clean though.
Myron...thanks
