Experiments in looking at the cueball while delivering the stroke.

"Good morning Vietnam" is a favorite quote. Talkin' 'bout My Generation.
I avoided it through appointment. My number was low 100s. Would have been scooped up and thrown into the fray in the jungle. Yikes!
After resigning my appointment I was eligible but the board had no experience with a rank of c4c or well c3c when I resigned. 🤷‍♂️ Had I played pool back then I most likely would have stayed. I was directed to the B-52 in my second summer training. B-52 crew was on 2 week ready duty with the a pool table in the ready room. I imagine I would have been Flyboy 2.
Flyboy was legendary and I had the pleasure of his aquintance. He was a tail gunner on the B-52. Did I mention that I got to fly that Big Bird for half an hour? Oh well those engines burned around 1200 lbs/hrs per engine. With 8 throttles at my right hand just like a dragster shift lever. Full throttle on all could rip the wings off. Oh yeah there were also 2 hound dog missiles, one on each wing in close to the fuselage. They could be engaged while attached, well if you needed the power. They could fly on 4 engines but required to abort if 2 went down.
A high speed low altitude practice bomb run over the grand canyon was 800 feet off the deck at 350 knots in a Delta formation. Mustard been 9 of us wing tip to wing tip. Ground turbulence was incredible.
We were the deterent. With each carrying a nuke or nukes it was an incredible display of power.
COMING IN under radar.

Might as well continue with "the stories ". 😉
I would go to the 211 in Seattle back when it was upstairs at 2nd and Bell.
I was working in a cabinet er uh furniture shop as lead carpenter. My $5 bar table tournaments were providing an 250 a week average. So I expected to donate 25 (at least) for a lesson.
Portland Slim was a dapper older black gentleman who obliged me with free lessons.
He taught me last pocket 8 ball at 5 a game. Would always get me down in the range of 40. When he started to tire, (well he was in his 80s and I was early 30s) I would get it back to zero pay the time, buy beverages, thank him for the lesson. Oh and the stories he had. He told of racking for Mosconi. He would run centuries when he was So drunk he grabbed the rails to navigate around the table. 🤷‍♂️
Plus I was providing a pass time for him as he had no need to work.
