Expert advice on laminated tips needed......

I'm looking to tryout the new 11 layer laminated tips. I think I want medium hardness to allow decent english, but I also want to try the soft tips. I hear Moori or Sniper Pro is the way to go for best english and consistant playing. I use something now thats not layered called Chandivert (Match) which is a medium tip. I'm looking for as many replys as I can get from people actually using the laminated tips with their results and advice....Thanks....Rich
 
The Moori medium is the most popular of the Moori tips, but it seems that many of those who actually try the soft switch to it. The Sniper will grip the ball better than either moori and holds its shape pretty well also. If you like the hit of a Lepro then you will like Moori. If you like the hit of a Triangle then you would favor the Sniper over the Moori.

You may want to pose this question in the cue-makers section of the forum. I think they would have an interesting take on what your looking for.
 
I have been using Talisman Pro tips on my own cues and installing them on customer cues for about 4-5 years with great results.
I personally prefer the Talisman Pro Soft, but I play mostly 1-Pocket.
My customers prefer the Talisman Pro Medium.
In all cases the tips hold their shape very well, hold chalk very well, do NOT mushroom, and require little or no maintenance.

Everest by Tiger Products is what you are looking for. Nice medium hit, plenty of feel and low maintanence (very little mushrooming).

i use a moori III quick(hard). but the best advice i can give you is to do what i did. it gets expensive, but if you're serious about finding a tip for you, then just try them. start out with a brand, try the different hardnesses they have, then move to another brand. i did this until i came to the moori, and i loved the way they hit. i was using a medium, then after i needed a new tip, i decided to try a hard, and i haven't even looked back since.

my personal opinion, (and its just a personal preference) i don't like a soft tip. i like the hard tip because i get EXACTLY what i put on the cue. i don't get any unnecessary draw or spin like i do with a soft. the downside to this is that you have to be very confident in knowing where you are hitting the cue, as you will find yourself missing position with a hard if you mishit the cue more than a slight amount.

If your using the Chandevert Match, then you would like the moori soft and or Hercules medium. I think the others will be to hard for you.

What is it about the Talisman Pro Soft that you prefer over the medium? Do you get better draw, control or what?
 
I prefer the softer touch for 1-Pocket. IMO it gives me more control.

I'll second that my Morri softs hit a tad softer than the Herc hard. Both will not mushroom (most layered tips wont) and the Herc is probably cheaper than the Morri. The herc has i think 23 some odd layers so you might have concerns about the # of glue lines. I think they both play fine.

I find Tiger tips to play a little harder than advertised, except for the Sniper which I didn't like at all... to mushy

you must of got a bad one, because I just put a sniper on my cue and it is rock solid. :)
