Okay we have all heard about the extensions phase...I have a rather wide arm span and am only 5'11" with a long bridge. My back hand is limited to be in a full 90 degree position on most shots because of this and I have a rather on the longer side bridge.. So

I ordered and received an extension from a common supplier who's name I'd rather not say, quality of the product was great with no effects to my cues straightness.

I tried it for a full week of maybe 1000 balls, mostly straight pool but some rotation. Problem is it's just so much heavier than what I have ever played for 30 years and greatly effects my feel of the cue. Don't get me wrong, on the long straight shots it does have some improvements...

It's back in the case, call me old school but just couldn't adapt to it...

Would like to hear others opinions....

This is exactly my problem as well. I really, really like a longer cue but with the BalanceRight extension, my cue weighs over 20oz, which is too heavy for me. So I have to temporarily back to 58 inches, and I will make sure those two 62" cues are building for me weigh no more than 18ish oz.

I also thought about using a long shaft with a regular butt instead of extension. Will try a 32" shaft from my great friend Jim Baxter soon. I hope it will work well. Good luck in finding something works for you :)

I am currently trying one out also. The added weight is 1.99 ounces, which on a 19.1 ounce cue feels surprisingly heavy. I am having to concentrate on slowing my back stroke more and now that my grip is on the wrap instead of the butt, I need to also make sure I am hitting at a 90 degree angle. Came natural before. My shot making is better than before, but my cue ball control is a little worse off.

I have only put about ten hours into it so far, so I will give it another week before deciding. I did still use a bridge for some shots, and found the extension made it a lot better stroking with the bridge.

extension

Hi:

If you are thinking of selling it; I'd like to try it out.

What is the pin size?

Thanks
Dave

Buy one of these. http://forums.azbilliards.com/showthread.php?t=372508 They are great extensions and only come in at 2.5" so your cue will be just over 60" total on a 58" cue. The weight varies and you can talk to him about these but I know he has them at only .6oz and go up to 1oz that i have seen. So i think this fixes your issues. Too long and too heavy. Give him a try. I have bought them in just about every pin size. He also does cross pins (3/8x10 on 1 side and 5/16x14 on the other) What ever floats your boat he can get it done. PM him and see what you can come up with. His prices are great also.

While out for a walk it dawned on me. Changing the weight bolt (if you have one) will lower the cue back to its original weight. The weight will be drastically forward from what it was without the extension, but shouldn't be that difficult to get used to. I will try that and see what the difference is in playability.
