Burn all jump cues

Well I just came from the eye doctor. I have 20/20 so I'll have to find another excuse why i miss table length 70 degree cut shots a foot and a half from pocket. It's not a crooked stroke either as mine is as straight as an arrow. Probably gripping cue too tight. Johnnyt

I've been doing some drills regularly and finding that when my grip is too tight, it throws me off as well makes me want to hit the cue ball harder. I try to remember what randyg taught me, cradle the cue and let it slide in your hand. When I am able to do that, it feels so good, I know I made a good shot.

I also think that I have to think too much about my pre-shot routine. I use to just do it w/o thinking about it. Now if I don't run it through my head every 3 or 4 shots I get all out of whack in my stance and set up to square. Old age I guess. Johnnyt

Johnnyt,

What about your eye pattern? You checked your eyes, so that's good. You checked your stroke, so its straight.

Are you spending enough time focusing on the object ball to get a sight picture?

Probably not. When I'm playing the ghost or pacticing a lot of it is plain being lazy. When I really care or playing for money mosy of them go it...and a few others. Johnnyt

Johnny,

I have twenty/twenty vision as well. I can see clearly twenty inches in front of me in both eyes:thud:!

This is my eye pattern when I get down to shoot.

1. Focus on the cue, 1-3 seconds
2. Focus on the object ball, 2 seconds or more
3. Set my stroke, waggle warm up strokes
4. Focus on the object ball (eyes stay on that object ball until step 7).
5. swing back, pause
6. stroke, finish
7. freeze

I try to be consistent in the order, and not move my eyes back forth (ping pong). If I miss a step, I should get back up and restart.

Probably not. When I'm playing the ghost or pacticing a lot of it is plain being lazy. When I really care or playing for money mosy of them go it...and a few others. Johnnyt

LOL. I was shocked when the dr said 20/20. He said he played pool, so I asked him if he'd play me one set race to 7 10-ball for the bill ($600+ for wife and me). He said he don't play for money anymore..fn nit. Johnnyt
