Besides raising the eyebrows ( I really have to work on that one ) , any other ways that help ?

Chicken head?

Have you tried raising your head a little higher off the cue? Lol.

My bet is you are locking the chin in when you are dialed in and getting down which requires chicken necking for the eye patterns to work on longer shots without shaving off the eyebrows.......... :groucho:

When you're in shooting position, try tilting the angle of your chin up slightly. That tilts your head upwards without lifting it. Your eyes would then be facing straight out rather than facing down towards the table.

hi joey, i have a section in my new book about eye pattern. i can pm you it when its out for release.. for now you need to get your eyes on the target and keep them there, otherwise you will be switching between the cb and the target, and not have them on the target on your pause, causing you to lift your head up on the shot.

I know this is an old thread but I also taped myself recently and to my astonishment the dreaded turkey-bob inflicts me on every shot. My practice strokes are slower and less numerous, so the effect is not as acute as yours but all the same...I'm bobbing up and down. What I did instead of raising my head is I tilt my face upwards (chin up, as a previous poster mentioned).

My process is this: once I locate my chin on the shaft, I tilt upwards until I can pattern between object ball and cueball w/o any head movement. Once this angle is achieved, I lock my neck, one or two more practice strokes, and execute the shot. This was, no surprise...a bit painful at first. But it has kept my head perfectly still, and I didn't need to change anything else in my mechanics to kill the bobbing.

Incidentally, I used to think that my head movement was a result of severe astigmatism. When I forced my head to stay still without changing my face angle, the object ball would appear oblong or worse: DOUBLE oblong!

Hope this helps.

I finally got around taping myself shoot practice shots.
Looks like a piston the ball and hit a tad too hard.
