F.S. - Indicator holders for Taig Carriages

Hello all. First time having anything made and attempting to sell it. I suppose like most people who need something and cant find it, it turned out the easiest route was to have it made! In any case, while there are all kinds of attachments available for full size lathes, there aren't many available for the Taig style lathes. I enjoy doing repair work but was not excited about the whole prospect of "eyeball it and cross your fingers" when it comes to trimming tips, boring, etc.

Attached are a couple of images of what I am offering. It is very simple to use and will hold any standard 3/8 stem dial indicator. Mounting is easy and shouldn't pose a problem for anyone capable of basic cue repair. These will fit on any Taig style assembly. Mine is mounted on one of Todd's lathes and I love it!

All that is needed is the drilling and tapping of 2 #6-32 holes in the carriage body. It is important to keep the body of the holder parallel to the cross slide. I just used a couple thin pieces of shim stock and all was good. Location of both pieces depends on the stem length of your indicator and whether it has 1/2" or 1" travel. Please note that you will need to remove/modify the center gib screw such that a longer allen key can be used.

I will be placing an order at some point this week. Need to have a minimum order of 10 to make this happen. Price is going to be $55 shipped anywhere in the US. No international buyers unless you want to use a friend here in the states as a middle man. I just don't have time to do all the paper work to get them out of the country. Once the order is placed, it will be up to 2 weeks to have them made and another couple of days to mail them. All screws will be included. Drill bits, taps, and indicator are not!

If you have any questions, feel free to ask. Post in this thread if you want one and I will provide my paypal address to collect money when the order is placed.

Thanks!
Chris

Great for sizing tenons. Need to bore a whole to .300? Stop wasting time getting out the calipers every cut! Takes all the guess work out...

Thanks Chris! Any idea if it will fit on your lathes?

Chris
The way it is made now it would work on my regular carriages like on my Mid Size Cue Smith or Micro units, but not on the Deluxe with taper bars.

Where can I get the digital indicator just like you got ? Thanks Dave

Hi
I"d be interested in one if you adapted it to a deluxe.
thanks, JerseyBill

Bill - At this point price is for the ones that fit taig carriages and, according to Chris, his two entry level lathes. One of pieces cost to much. If there is enough interest I can certainly look into having them made for the deluxe.
