my home town

Hi,
Is the address listed as Westfield Avenue on the program?.... I'm testing my memory!
I think this was right near the corner of Morris Avenue and Westfield Avenue. If that's the address, many years earlier[late 70s], it had been the location of Palmer after the company expanded into video games and mass production cues. They had two other locations within a block of that "arcade" going back to the late 60s
Frank Paradise also had his shop just around the corner for a time in the late 60s.

I think I stumbled into the waybac machine!

That is somewhat incorrect.
West end billiards was located on Westfield Ave, between Morris Ave and broad St.
Palmer billiards was never located there. It was right next door, closer to Morris Ave. Later, when Palmer closed the shop, it became some video store, like Blockbuster or something like that. it was back in 1991-1992.
And yes, Frank used to have his shop right around the corner.
As for West end. I am pretty sure it closed around 2003-2005.

I don't remember the street address, but West End was next to Palmer. I don't remember it being on a street corner. Parking was across the street. You entered West End Arcade. West End Billiards was in the back. The tournament room was upstairs. What a place!

Also testing my memory.

I could not agree more. Imo, the best possible setup for a pol room. Not to mention that all tables were Gold Crown 4, redone on regular bases, usually twice a year.
And right again, it was not at the corner. Parking was across the street but, we also had parking in the back. Not big but, for about 10-12 cars.

Well... it used to be my home town.
I stand corrected. After my family died or moved I returned less frequently.
I've only been back a handful of times since the early 80s.
I don't remember the pool room. Do you have an idea when it opened and what the location housed before it was West End?
I do remember that approximate Palmer location. I think that it had been a sporting goods store previously.... Yale?
I do remember getting back to town and seeing that Palmer store... they had gone from this little shop... one on Morris Ave and other on Westfield Ave up a block toward the river... into this much bigger and polished store selling all sorts of stuff. It was clear that they were well beyond making custom cues. This would have been the late 70s, I think.

I hope I've qualified this.... my elusive memory.

Regards,
Dave

Well...it used to be my home town and my pool room. I can not tell you when it was opened first as i bought my share of it in 1990. However, i do remember Palmer store being next door and i always enjoyed talking to owner's wife. What a sweet old lady, always smiling, always trying to help.
It was great pool room, i had an honer of meeting one of the best players in the world. Too bad it went down the tubes.
