Ok I am getting lots of interest in house conversions. I am having a hard time getting information local what I should charge. Right now I am offering 2 conversions since I have a couple of each style in stock or in process of being built. I did some research locally that a couple cue builders are charging $250 + for conversions with out anything special like buttsleeves ect. I assume they are hard pressed to sell a conversion for that price seeing I know of 1 person with thier cue locally in thier hands. Whats a fair price to charge in your opinion for a converion with the following options.

All cues thus far are dufferin conversions although I have some valley in stock ready for conversion. The dufferin wood figure look better though in my opinion.

Butt Capp Black or Natural Phenolic or wood that matched handle area
Drilled and Tapped for weight bolts
White or Black Rings
Joint Rings Black or Natural Phenolic or wood that matches handle area
Shaft joint ring work to match of course
Birdeye Butt Sleeve
This will be offered standard with 1 shaft
Ivorine IV Ferrule
and Everest Laminated Tips
Ferrule Material and other tips would of course be available on request.

Here is a pic of one I shoot with and I have had tons of interest. I just want to offer a fair price. I have 2 people wanting identical conversions and 1 wanting with wood buttcap and joint rings.

It depends on what you are putting into that Q. Are you spraying or finishing any part of the Q once you are done with it? I won't start my compresser for less than $30. I charge $300 - $350 for Qs made from oversized blanks(depending on the wood used). I charge $150-$200 for one piece Qs that I cut in half, make a joint on shaft & butt, with no spraying...JER

Yes these are being finished. What would your recommended starting price be for lets say the conversion pictured?

Are you matching up a new shaft?
Are you tapering the butt down?
I personally do both. Only to eliminate ANY warpage or damage the house cue obtained over the years. And I charge $150-200 for all that.

My "Not so Sneaky Pete's" are like yours. I use over sized blanks so as to get fancier woods, I core the prong, turn down and even up the points, make a shaft with LBM ferrule and Talisman tip, put a 1" piece of Birdseye or Curly near the rear so as to make the points a little closer to the joint, put on a butt cap and joint with deco-rings and inlay small ivory circles with turquoise or such in the centers at the base of the points so as to clean up that area. On the joints I give the option of stainless, black, white or natural phenolic and I use a Radial pin. My finish is a three step process that consists of a spray on epoxy sealer followed with a U.V. finish and then three coats of an Auto Urethane. I only build custom so the length, weight, balance, shaft taper, and but taper is entirely up to the customer. I charge 350.00 for this cue. Example can be seen here, bottom cue on first page of cues: http://dickiecues.com/

Cue looks nice, however you will need to even up the points to make any money on these. Otherwise the players will nit-pic you to death and want it for free.
