Fake Predator case on ebay...

Predator insists that no one is counterfitting their products (according to one of their dealers per a phone conversation with me) and here is an example.

You should see all the fake ones in China. Last month I saw a fake Predator cue - awful decal job - not anything like Predator's designs at all with a one piece z-grade shaft with a 314 logo on it.

I can't reveal the whole story but once upon a time a dealer alerted Predator to the fact that someone else was selling fakes and they insisted that there are no Predator fakes. They told him to show it to them if he wanted to. So he bought it and sent it to them and they sent him a nastygram back insisting that he made the fake.

Lovely way to handle a loyal dealer eh?

Also, you can do your part by reporting the item. At the bottom of each auction there is a button you can use to report listing violations.

I just did on this case.

One sad part about this is the seller has a 100% positive rating with over 800 items sold...just goes to show you need to be careful regardless of that useless # that they list.

This guy obviously doesn't know anything or is just a dumb@ss....

It has been used but is in very good condition. It is missing one of the little feet at the bottom but if you call Predator they will probably send you one for free.

Problem #1: The case is made in China (like everything else Predator) so why would they have small parts for the cases?

Problem #2: Has anyone ever heard of Predator giving ANYTHING away for free?

Problem #3: Their vinyl cases **look** just like regular leather and have the leather feel. This case does not.

I'll leave this as a final thought....

I asked him this question:
Dear c-s-a-c,

Do you realize thats not a real Predator case or are you trying to sell a fake on purpose?

Regards
Dave

Once upon a time I would have agreed with you, but not anymore. They have pretty much removed ever method of leaving bad or negative feedback on Ebay. When leaving feedback there is no longer a "negative" option and if leave negative comments they'll get removed. If you have a bad transaction there is nothing you can do to notify another potential customer. Its absolute Bullspit! My days of buying on ebay are pretty much gone. I'll sell but thats only because I'll have the product till I get money.

The same seller is alsao offering a Predator cue. Is it real?
Strange, The seller is operating out of Orange Park, FL. Right next door to Predators headquarters. It would be easy for Predator to bring them to task.

You know what? I probably jumped to a hasty conclusion - never had that happen before ;-)

This case is "probably" a prototype that that was sent to Predator at some point, wasn't picked up as a line and it somehow made it's way out the door.

It's the same case that everyone sells for sub $80 with the Predator logo attached to it. It does have the bonus however of having a Jack Justis interior, the same one he uses so maybe that makes it worth $250 :->

When I made the Predator cases for Predator, specifically when I made the prototypes - - J&J somehow had already gotten my ORIGINAL design and sent their version to Predator as well and I had to go to Jacksonville to point out the differences and justify the extra cost, which I did successfully.

Upon reflection it seems as if the seller has gotten a Predator Cue and Case somehow and is selling them with whatever information that they have.

Thanks for the extra detective work!

Wow really? I haven't sold anything on Ebay in years but that sucks. The feedback system was the cornerstone of Ebay IMO.

Hey something interesting.............

Look at this post:

Puttnutt24 talking about his new table. Look in the background next to the fireplace..... Looks like the same case???

Someone should ask him.

Mike

You can't tell anything from that picture, I would guess that it is the real Predator case made by Instroke if judging by the cases strap hanging on the wall....

Here on the Left is how the real Predator vinyl case looks, do you see the differences from the "fake ebay" case (on the right)?

The interior of the real case is the familiar 2x4 Instroke interior.

Still a fake in my book!
Even if it is a competitive prototype it still doesn't have the right to bear the Predator logo and see daylight...
Besides, the overall design looks too close to your design to be anything else but a ripoff.

And I want you all to notice something. I was the first person to put the rubber grips on pool cue cases.

Why? Well when I was designing the Predator case the pattern maker was also working for a company that made backpacks. So we went there to work with him and knock the case out.

While there I saw these cool molded rubber handles that were on the backpack samples.

So I took those and modified them for use on the Predator case. Notice how the handles stand up on the original Predator case and they flop on the "fake" one?

This is because when these handles come from the factory they have a plastic tube as the core and it only is as long as the rubber handle itself. So I added spacers to it to make the handles solid for use on cue cases.

After we came out with this then all of the sudden all sorts of cases were popping up with "sport" grips. But sadly none of them took the extra step to make them solid so that they were more comfortable and more secure. Less floppiness means less stress on the stress points.

When I was called to JAX and asked to defend my price for my original Predator case the first thing I did was rip the handles off of J&J's copy to show how weak it was.

:-) Thanks!

It's not technically a fake IF it's a prototype/sample that got loose. But it's probably not something that Predator wants out there for this very reason that it causes confusion and consternation.

The design on this one is a ripoff of both me and Whitten as far as that goes.

But that has never bothered the Long Chan Cue Case factory. They have stolen millions from me and others and continue to do so and Predator and other prominent notables are partners with them so in the end who really cares anymore?

I am personally sick of it all. My greatest pleasure comes from someone who gets a case I built and reports that they are happy with it. I can't stop all the brand and design ripoffs that occur, all I can do is try to stay ahead with new designs and have them play catch up.

This is wrong. Sellers can't leave negative feedback on buyers, but buyers can still leave negative feedback on sellers.

The reason negative comments get removed is that eBay tells sellers when they're leaving feedback that they can't leave negative feedback for buyers. Obviously, if someone tries to get around that by leaving negative commentary anyway, those comments will be removed.
