That settles it. I'm moving to Germany!!!!

Berny, until now I have not been building my own sneaky blanks. They are made for me using my wood or wood chosen specifically for me. From now on i'll be doing all my own splicing. My jig is almost complete & will have dedicated machinery to do nothing but full splice cuts. There will be veneered blanks as well. All will have sharp points at both ends of the splice.

I have visited Germany before. I love south Germany!!!! The hills & forest country with castles atop the highest peaks reminds me of childhood fairytales. Beautiful place, friendly people. I actually went to the black forest & met with a fine woodworker who gave me some beautiful black forest walnut. I have been wanting to use it for a long time, but haven't found the right design yet. I have some local friends who are here from the German Air Force & one of the guys brings me wood from there. He brought me some walnut burl that's friggin beautiful, like the stuff they use in the fancy clocks. He also brought me some Turkish boxwood & German beech. I know you guys have a couple cuemakers but I have never seen anything built from German wood.

My father was stationed in Germany for 6 years while serving in the U.S. Air Force. He loved it there. I remember as a kid...him coming home from a night out with the guys...singing in German like it was his first language...when he could barely speak it in broad daylight. LOL He brought home a number of things from Germany when he came home...including a cookoo clock and a grandfather clock, both of which were made from walnut burl. The stuff's beyond amazing. Anything you make of it, I surely must see. It's bound to be beautiful.

I live in the Black Forrest and I like to drive in the Hills with my Harley.
So I know exactly what you like Eric :-).It's the nicest Place in south Germany and the hottest too in the Summer time.
Next Time when you come here shoot me a PM.
Ralf
