Some of you may have read that my mentor, legendary showman Jack White, passed away a week ago, at 82. Jack had a Palmer model 20 custom made for him 40 years ago by Gene Balner. The cue has two shafts, and is in original condition. As would be the case with any 40+ year old well-used cue, there is some yellowing of the finish. Jack was fastidious about everything in his life...his clothes, his cars, and especially his cuesticks. I am helping his widow to come up with helping his funeral expenses by handling the sale of this famous one-or-a-kind player"s cue. I am picking up the cue later today and will post several pics, as well as the specs on the cue. Serious inquiries can PM or email me.

Jack White Model 20 Pictures

Scott had some difficulty uploading pictures of this fine cue, so I am assisting him. My only involvement is posting these pictures. Please contact Scott directly for questions and offers.

I will however take the opportunity to add some comments for those unfamiliar with the most special of all of the catalog Palmers.

The Model 20 is the pinnacle of all Palmers. The numbers produced is unknown but in all likelihood very low. All were delivered with two shafts. Most were personalized and some were not. They do surface from time to time but not with any regularity and when they do, they sell for a substantial figure. This is one of the Palmers that causes unknowledgeable people to think all Palmers are worth big money. In a down market, any Model 20 should command $4,000 or more depending upon provenance.

Some Model 20s were owned by players of some renown and this is one of them as Scott has described above.

This is an opportunity to own a double-barreled piece of history: a Model 20 and a cue owned and regularly used by Jack White.

The only reason I have not made an offer on this cue is because I own one Model 20 already as well as a Model 20 Tribute so my cupboard's full. Otherwise I would seize the opportunity.

Good luck to all. I have no financial interest in this matter.

Jay

Scott have you considered contacting the Glenn Brothers, as they collect Cues owned by notable people in the Pool World. I have a number if you PM me for Del Glenn if you need it.

I actually played a few rack with this cue.

Jack hit the university of Pittsburgh when I was there. He used to play a few of the students in last pocket eight ball. I played him a few times and won a few games off of him. :) He was a great showman and great player. I looked forward to seeing him every year and was honored to have played against such an incredible player.

The last time I saw him he kept on calling me a collegiate champion and because of that I deserved to shoot with his cue. I will never forget how he played and what he did for the game.

He will be missed.

May his cue find the home it truly deserves.

Will
