If a smallish local league (couple hundred in a small metropolitan area) has their own ELO-style handicapping, can their players get Fargo Ratings but still keep their own local system unchanged?

Is there a fee for these leagues to be associated with FargoRate?

These are good questions. Another one for Mike - how does a league send you results? Is there some format?

Gideon<-----if I'm going to ask my LO to participate I need to know what I'm asking her to do

I sent Mike a PM with my question (about how a league sends in results) a few weeks ago. No answer.

I'm sure Mike must be a busy man - thought asking it in the forum might get a response from him or perhaps an LO that has been through the process.
 
We talked about this last night. Some are sent to him in the right format, some are manually input. Some come in from their league software system. Some countries they need to translate before inputting. Mike's example was written Mandarin.

Rob,



When you speak to Mike, perhaps you might ask him to add to his FAQ an answer to "How Does a League Submit Results". This could include (a) what is the "right format"? (b) what information is required (in any format) for the results to be used? (c) is there a cost to the league in supplying this information and being included in the database?

People like Freddie and me who play in leagues are important resources to get LOs on board, but we can't advocate without information.

Gideon,

This is the spreadsheet format Mike and I agreed on. If I had a new player to the system I would include the player's full name, BCAPL ID (if applicable), gender, and hometown. Mike would assign a Fargo ID.

A simple scorekeeping app where you submit your scores at the end of the night should would be brilliant..

I thought; per Mike, the table size was irrelevant ?
 
Part of Mike's background is science and research. Think of your statement for a second. How would Mike and Steve be able to say it is irrelevant if they didn't have data to compare?
