I think there are 16 left on the winner's and 16 left on the one-loss side. All matches start at 11am today.

Gordy is still on the winner's side, Doc.

I had a great time, won the first match.... I knew I should have done better in the 2nd round 7-9 but next time. One of the players got me in the head so I couldnt concentrate in the lose side.

Great to meet ya Melinda. :)

Throughout the whole time, I was playing when I was sick coughing all over the place. Damn weather.

I'll be back in full throttle to the finals in the Finale. And thats a Fact!!!

lol hopefully.

just heard that Melinda lost in the finals - she was double dipped by Helen Hayes. the first set ended 7-3 and the second went hill-hill with Helen winning 7-6. Belinda Lee took 3rd, Jennifer Kraber took 4th. there were a total of 17 women players.

the open went something like this (66+/- players):
1st Ignacio Chavez
2nd Chen
3rd James Davis, Sr.
4th Manuel Ayala
5th/6th Bill Kessler/????

How did you know that is what I was trying to find out.
Wow, you must have ESP.

Thanks,

Melinda was and is always a tremendous help this weekend. She also played real well. Kim Peirce had her down 6-2 and and fought back like a soldier to win that match. Second place is impressive in any tournament and could have easily won it had the table been just a bit more forgiving.

Good job MELINDA GAYLE>

Women's intuition? Nah, I just know many follow Gordy's progress at the tournament. Heck, I follow him when I am AT the tournaments. :) I got lucky and was able to have dinner with him Saturday night.

I think he got one out of the money. He lost both his matches on Sunday. :(

You are too kind, Lewis. BTW - I enjoyed helping run the tournament!

I felt good about all my matches of the tournament - just not the first set in the finals. But, the second set I was down 5-3 and caught a gear and was up 6-5 before losing hill hill. I didn't go down in flames! Otherwise, I felt pretty sporty... even if it was second place. :( Yeah, the match with Kim was amazing.

I just started reading Pleasures of Small Motions. Only on page 25... but practiced on Wednesday what the book recommended. Which, so far, the book recommends HOW to practice. So, that practice session I practiced the "how" to work on my worse habit (staying down and following through).
