I guess this can be related to both instructional and non-instructional movies. There's always the classic favorites like The Hustler, The Color of Money, The Baltimore Bullet and Kiss Shot.

One of my personal favorites is The Shooting Gallery. My favorite quote from that movie is, "A hustler with a goal ends up one of two ways: rich, or dead."

I'm always interested in watching a good movie filmed around billiards. What's your favorite movie(s) and why?

I know this question has been done to death buttt I still can't help answering..lol...all of them, yes "up against the eightball" too.

Z, you already named the movies I Like....

The Hustler, Paul Newman, and Jackie Gleason great stars set around pool playing. The Color of Money, because of the stars and the pool playing. Story was good too. Thanks for asking.

The Hustler is, by far, the best of the lot. The acting by Paul Newman, Jackie Gleason, Geoge C. Scott, and others, was outstanding. The story line was excellent and filming in black and white added that film noir touch. A true classic.
Good story line in "Color of Money" but it was too gimmicky. In my opinion, Tom Cruise ruined the movie. He was so unbelievable as Vince. Plus that twirling of the cue stick was pure Hollywood at it's worst. Paul Newman, as usual, was great and so was Mary Elizabeth Mastrantonio.

Couldn't have put it any better myself!

The Hustler, The Color of Money, Baltimore Bullet, Poolhall Junkies, and Stickmen. Films that I hated, Turn the River and Shooting Gallery, they made up their own pool terms like daisy.

I liked the Shooting Gallery too. I just ran across it yesterday when I was looking for a movie to watch.

Pool Hall Junkie's is about as phony as Color of Money. All 3 are a good watch but I would have to agree with the majority that the Hustler is prolly the best.

I haven't seen The Baltimore Bullet and Kiss Shot. Are they worth watching?

Some of these movies have to be seen to be believed. Baltimore Bullet is horrendous both from a pool stand point as well as entertainment. I love where the player calls three different balls for the same shot and Mosconi who plays the commentator says, "Seem kind of risky". Mosconi must have been on medication when he got involved in this movie. Lou Butera I believe was the technical adviser. I guess they never asked him anything about pool while filming. Kiss shot was a made for TV movie with of all people Whoopi Goldberg and although silly, is entertaining. I wish they would show it now and then I think a lot of people would enjoy it.
One actor in Kiss Shot Dorian Harewood can really play. He would be in his 60's now but would be a good inclusion in any pool movie, assuming he is still active.
