Favorite english/spin?

I was watching a match between two players, cannot remember who, and Buddy Hall was one of the commentators. Anyways, he said that most every pool player's favorite english (including top and bottom) was bottom-right. Of course he then proceeded to point out every shot in the race that used bottom-right which, suprisingly, was quite a few. The weird thing about it, I guess, is that my favorite english is bottom-right.

What is yours?

you got me

Yep, I'm most comfortable with low right spin. I'm right-handed, but I don't know if that has anything to do with it.

I really thought about it and I cannot figure out why it is. I am just most comfortable with it. Would really like to hear what others think about it.

I thought it might be about your dominant hand too but that thought was quickly thrown away as I am left-handed and know a majority of the people are right-handed.

Bottom-right.

If you use a lefthand bridge, it's easier to move your fingers to the bottom-right without moving your hand. All other english is more difficult. If you want to use bottom-left, your hand is blocking.

I'm comfortable with low anything. When I read the heading and the first sentence in the post I immediately though low-right, then I though low-left. Just depends on the situation but either one is very comfortable. Pure side left/right is probably the most uncomfortable for me, it often leads me to question the shot and stand up to take a bit more time.

My favorite is high-inside (mostly high, little inside). I like to rebound from the rail at about 90 degrees for most of my shots to leave angles for the next shots.

I try to run the cue down the same paths as if you connected the diamonds to make a perfect grid. I do this for simplicity, and it works often, but I don't try to play everything that way--that would be stupid. My second favorite would be high-outside (mostly outside, little high) to go "around the horn" and hit the rail about 1 diamond before the side pocket for position either on a spot shot or one of those side pocket balls that are on just on the other side of the table.

Nearly every ball can be gotten on using those two.

You shouldn't consider a shot bottom right. The most common shot is actually bottom-outside english. The shot is very easy to control, and the reason it comes up so often is the one goal of 9-ball is to keep the cue ball in the middle of the table. most often the object ball is near a rail, so you shoot the shot with bottom outside english to "throw" the shot it, then go off the rail to the middle of the table again. It is the most common shot in pool, which is why bottom outside is shot so often. Bottom-left is just as common as bottom right, you only notice bottom right more because you are thinking about how often you use it.
