I have officially made the change from Curly to QUILTED Maple. I can not get over this stuff. WOW!!! I am having one made for me out of the sickest sh*t you have ever seen. It is truly amazing.

The above pic is not of my cue, it is one of Omen's, but the blank is comming from his shop after a recent trip to the UP. And it is figured like the guitar. Tricking my eyes to thinking it is anything but smooth.

add me to the cocobolo list as well. I really like the look of snakewood and tulipwood as well.

An ebony cue with snakewood points is tough to beat...but I will take a plain jane piece of cocobolo with a black leather wrap anyday. Simple and beautiful.

that is really gorgeous. I think it would look better in limited use, but I like darker woods. I've loved cocobolo for a while now and bacote is growing on me.

Dry,

My favorite was Gon Cales Alves south west hit days past Now Ebony front or Africian Blackwood. I have a new cue from manila. Amboyna burl ivory pts shaft-wood 85 yr.old bowling alley wood for the shafts, ivory ferrule, Talisman bk tip. Have to answer Andy Gilbert hits them really good also. wood by the numbers is African Blackwood 1.38

Quilted Maple

Pete Ohman is working on a quilted maple project for me now. Great figure; my favorite. I think he prefers to acrylic stabilize the wood and core it when working with softer material like big leaf maple.

This is absolutely right. I was advised against using this wood in a cue but I posted in the ask a cuemaker section and they said no but if I were to use it make sure it was impregnated with a hardener and core it.

Mine should be ready tomorrow.

Hey Prog8r. Come up to Chalkie's. I'll show it to you... only one coat of paint Arnold!1.JPG

This is also one of Pete's (Omen) cues. Joint rings are ivory and snakewood.

Wow, with snakewood?? Thats a beauty!!!
Thanks. If you look closer, the blue veneers on the long points are on the outside and the silver veneers on the short points are on the outside.
