Federal Express is Excellent

I always ship my cues by Fed Ex. It's expensive, but I have never had a problem with them until last week.

I sent an old collectible Palmer to Proficient for some cosmetics work. It arrived at Proficient and they noticed the box was damaged - it had actually
been crushed. They reported it to the driver and called me. There was some damage to the cue and they sent me photos. Fortunately I had insured the cue.

I filed a claim online with Fed Ex. They asked me to fax them a copy of my receipt.

One week later, I had a check. Amazing!

I have shipped FedEx almost exclusively, and have had Excellent results. (/me knocks on wood)
The only problem I have had with them was when a customer shipped a cue to me, it got lost. He admitted that he did NOT TAPE THE PACKAGE, and he used GROUND shipping.
2 mistakes!
The good news is that after he spent HOURS on the phone, FedEx FOUND THE CUE! The shaft was never found, but he had 2 others that were still new (he didn't send them with the cue) and the butt was ok. He was sending it in for a re-finish anyway!

The Moral of the story is: Always Always Always package cues as if they were going to be abused, and USE 2nd DAY AIR! The less time it is out of your hands, the better.

I will have to agree w/ the FedEx folks for shipping needs. UPS has screwed me on sending, receiving and claims issues.

$25 to get a cue to any location in the States overnight. Worth every penny, IMO!

I am a Fed Ex believer as well. I always request fed ex when I purchase a cue. (Dad works at fed ex ground in Pittsburgh, I get some awesome rates.) I always send my own tags to people that don't ship Fed Ex. Some are very open and others are really stubborn.

just my 2 cents.

I've never had any problems with FedEx either, but there have been a couple of times that UPS has been the bane of my existence. I ship cues and golf clubs, and a couple of times the entire box and golf club was so destroyed that it looked like it was run over by a tank and they tried to place the blame on me for incorrect internal packaging and didn't want to pay the claim. Everytime I've had to fight tooth and nail and threaten a small claims case before they paid.

I've never had a problem with Fed-Ex, but to be honest, I only use them when requested by the customer. I've never had a problem with USPS Priority and Express Mail in many years of using them. They also provide great shipping containers for free! The funny thing I encountered one day was, when I chose a bad time to go to the wrong post office and was waiting in a line to get a package off. I live in the boonies. Used to drive into "the city" to the PO, but now go the other direction to a little "Mayberry" like town where there's NEVER a line at the post office! Well when I reached the head of the line and was next customer to be called, a Fed-Ex truck pulled up to the front door, ignoring the parking arrangement, and the driver darted directly to the counter where a Fed-Ex package he had was "handed off" to the post office for shipment. When I was called up to the counter, I asked the clerk about what I'd seen. He told me it was SOP. Due to certain locations and schedules it's more efficient for them to the postal service than add carriers! USPS oughta get a video of that for a comercial!

i've never had a problem with usps priority mail and you can't beat the price. tate, i wouldn't be endorsing fed ex after they overcharged me,smashed and damaged my cue, but paid me off quickly.

Just pray you never do, because it is like pulling teeth to get any satisfaction from the post office.

in my opinion ups sucks.... i always try to use fed ex. when i used to work for a car stereo shop. the company street glo (neon kits for cars) used ups and i would say 9 times out of 10 they always come broke, usually we would do an inspection before we would let the guy leave. finally we got tired of pissed off customers and switched to fed ex we had to come out of the pocket but no pissed off customers... my friend also sent a sub ups and it was in a plywood shipping box and somehow ups found a way to crack the basket on the sub and tear up the plywood shipping box.. just my 2 cents..

Usps

I have shipped and recieved 100 cues with USPS. $300 to $3,000 and never had a problem. I can ship and insure for less than Fed Ex and UPS. I am not saying there is anything wrong with the others but USPS is the way I go.

I shipped two boxes, to the same address up north. The weight was a total of 69lbs,The over night charge for these two boxes was, $406.50.. I now ship with DHL, when possible. They quoted the same weight and address for $179.50..... Ups ships lots of good, that being the case, they loose or damage not too much. Price and insurance is much less with DHL. Try-um, you might like-um
