Feedback on Sugartree / Eric Crisp

I'm not too sure that one can ascribe Eric's work as fotm or du jour, case in point is exhibit a :

This was done when he was still in Alaska.
Even before he left to serve in the desert he was swamped with orders (this was in 2004 and before).
Someone asked about the identity of the cuemaker of the cue above and I didn't give an answer because of two reasons a. because I respected Eric's wish not to participate in this forum and b. for a more selfish reason as one can see you can't get on his list once he got outed in here.
This conversion was a precursor to the absolutely fab tuxedo cue which sold really well...gone in a flash for a tidy sum:eek:

Good.
Save your pennies.
Curly purpleheart forearm with really hard brownish b'eye handle.
Ivory chain on burlwood from Edwin. :p

With a nice stiff shaft or two thrown in for good measure? Stag collars? I'm saving....

Love that cue...

That is a great conversion!!!

i remember my first SW wes ordered in july 86 and i got it in may 87, i couldnt figure out why i had to wait, then again i didnt know about the time needed between cuts then or how cues were made, it was $350, I was living in sacramento at the time and thought they were funny looking cues but I like how they payed and there was a lot of hype about them in sacramento, 100 miles down the road in Modesto where kim was paying Szams were the cue,

OK whats your point Fatboy? Point is for what ever reason Sacramento learned about SW cues earily in the ball game and there was alot of hype about them for good reason, 100 miles away they were clueless, it was Mali's on the low end and Szams on the high end, it took years for SW cues to make it to Modesto, its like Eric's cues there are "pockets of exposer" to his cues with some people here and I'm one of them, and am aware that they are worth the price and then some. i'm not trying to create a market it will do it automatically,

they are just wood cues like SW's and anybody who has any brains would buy every SW they could for the price of a Sugartree-they are both just wood cues, I'm not knocking SW, they are a second family to me, I dont even talk to them about cues anymore-I have what I want. but Erics cues are as good for less money, if they arent as good I cant tell. SW has huge history Jerry/Laurie/mickey/Al are ledgends now after so many years and the prices reflect that and SW cues are worth the $$$, Erics cues are cheap compaired because he isnt a legend ....yet.

Hey guys...quit driving up the value of my...wait a minute carry on :)

With regards to coring, Eric has said he has cored cues before. But he only rarely uses wood that requires coring.

He drives many miles to hand select his woods, often milling the wood himself. His attention to detail just can't go unnoticed.

Even if you could get on the wait list, it's almost worth buying a Sugartree second hand for 3x the price. The waiting is a PITA. He won't ship anything until it's good and ready.

I love the wood Eric uses in his cues. That "stained" glass cue Jamie Wernsman had up for sale a week or so ago was simply gorgeous. Someone else posted a link earlier in the thread to a wrapless cue with cocobolo and something else in it.....unreal. I just started shooting with a rosewood sneaky with buckhorn butt cap and joint...and it's a great shooter.
