I have a table that was installed new in late march. it plays horribly slow.
the felt is not stretched very tight. you can pinch it and lift it 3 to 4 inches. my question is can it be re stretched and should the company i bought the table from that also did the install take care of it for free.
i think they should seeing how it was there guys that did a bad job on the install. there's bubbles in the felt on the under side of the rails also.
thanks in advance for your input Andy

They should definitely reinstall the cloth. Call it cloth when you talk to them. Calling the cloth felt is a tip off that you are not experienced.

Did you have this problem in March when the table was first installed?
How did it play the first month or so?
Is the table located in a room that is connected to the heating/cooling system of the house?

It's possible the loose cloth is due to a bad install and it's also possible that the environment of the room where
the table is located may be the problem (humidity).

The company will probably question why you waited 6 months to bring this issue to light. If you can answer the questions
above you can get some advice here and hopefully prevent a pissing contest with the seller.

It's no problem to restretch/reinstall unbacked cloth. And for the record probably 75% of the billiard speaking world uses
the word felt rather then cloth.

Well shoot... I kind of blew that post by not reading his post completely. I missed completely that it was installed in March, and I certainly defer to experienced table installers such as yourself.

In this neck of the woods nobody with any experience calls pool table cloth felt. NOBODY! So,... I was speaking only from my limited experience and calling the cloth what it is.. cloth. Unless it is felt and in that case the table has more problems than the cloth, scuse me felt, being loose. 75% huh? INteresting number.

Its been loose and slow from the get go.

Yes the tables in a heated room and ac when we run it. It's in my living room middle of the house.

I only waited so long to say any thing since i had to wait a year while the room was beeing remodeled so it would fit. Had to have a wall removed. I was just so happy and excited to finally get it in the house.

My other concern is that i have seen a few other tables they have done since then and there not much better.

I do know its not felt it's cloth. It's just a slang term. but i just looked at my bill and under options hand written by the salesman it say blue felt.

Rick i have been thinking of up grading the felt any way may be you could point me to a good mechanic in central Pa. and sell me some new velocity felt (cloth). I just know I'am not going to let the guys that installed the table put it on.

Thanks Andy

In a finished part of the house with heat and ac it's likely that humidity isn't the problem. So this indicates that the install was probably not done correctly especially since you say the problem existed from the getgo. Frankly, you should have contacted the seller long ago but regardless, it won't hurt to call them and express your disatisfaction - cite the cloth getting looser over the past several months and that it seemed somewhat loose when first installed and see if they will send someone to fix it at no charge. Of course if they hacked the job the first time there's no guarantee they won't hack it again but if they're willing to come out at no charge and stand behind their business reputation (if any) at least there's no $ out of your pocket. If they refuse or want to charge you then you're better served to find someone else. If you definitly plan to change the cloth I'd suggest getting a different installer.

Strokerz suggested someone and here's another that works Jersey/PA -

As for the Velocity cloth you can check out our offering at http://www.poolfelt.com/velocity_pro_pool_table_felt.html
Free shipping and 2 boxes of cue chalk are included. If you have questions about the cloth post it here, pm me or call the number listed on our web page and ask for me.

FWIW on terminology, people call billiard cloth by many names but mostly they call it pool table felt even though it's not a felt. We do not correct customers whether they call it cloth, a green, a cover, pool felt, etc. Selling over 2600 table cuts of cloth a year we could care less what they call it because we know what they mean and billiard cloth is our core product. We deal with home table owners, room owners, amusement operators and a few folks that build custom tables. In addition we sell by the yard to folks doing poker tables, gun cabinets, display cases, and various other specialty projects. One customer ordered a bolt to cover the walls of a home recording studio. My point is that the vast majority that call us to order ask for pool table felt.
