Looking for a good ferrule cleaner.Has to be least abrasive , hopefully cost effective. Thanks in advance for your replys, Kennyratt

Hi Kenny:

Use either Pearl Drops Tooth Polish (in a bottle) or 2000 grit Wet or Dry sandpaper that's available at your local hardware store.

Cut a strip of the sandpaper about 1 inch wide by 6-8 inches long and run it back and forth across the ferrule using the same stroke as though you were polishing a pair of shoes with a rag. And that method will even improve the appearance of the sides of a newly installed tip prior to final burnishing.

I avoid ANYTHING abrasive.
I avoid Magic Eraser® because my (old) package indicates it's NOT recommended on bare wood.
I also avoid cue specific products since thay are mostly nothing more than common ingredients re-packaged at a much higher price.

toothpaste just on the ferrule! takes it right off! Also if it annoys you that much get an ivory ferrule.

Ivory sometimes needs cleaning, too. So what do you recommend in that case?

Ok well learn how to chalk your tip and then you wouldnt have to use anything!!! :D Actually all ivory ferrules I have had if I happened to get chalk on them I just used my thumb and it came right off!

But ivory ferrules are heavy and cause a lot of deflection. :D

thats true too thats why the dont hold chalk like other ferrules with all that deflection it knocks the chalk right off!!! :D

www.Quick-Clean.com has a shaft cleanner that works well. It is the onley thing i have ever used that takes the blue off the ferruel. I think it is about $5.00 a bottle and will last 6 to 8 months. Hope this helps

Always trade-offs with this game, damn it! Why can't there be a ferrule that is very lightweight, like 1 gram, strong like steel, yet highly non-porous so it repels chalk? :D

I use the Magic Eraser keeping it off the shaft. Very simple process... dampen the ME, scrub a little with the edge of the ME compressed to the approximate width of the ferrule and you're done.

What I use ...

Kroger grocery stores (Dillons here in the Midwest) makes a cleaner
called Orange made from oranges. All natural, a little on a paper towel,
and I clean my shaft and ferrule with it. Non-abrasive, works great.
I use a little Pledge polish on a paper towel after that on my shaft only,
and it keeps it slick.

So Far - SlipStic - Is Great!

I got the new SlipStic product last week from Pete Lafond and so far it is great. Keeping off dirt & chalk while keeping my shaft dry & very slick even in humid conditions. He is supposed to be coming out with a cleaner also in the near future and I hope it works as well.

TY
