What is the best way to remove a ferrule. Just bought a ebay stick and the ferrule is not flush with the shaft.

Since you are asking, I assume you don't know, and don't have the means necessary, so you will have to take it to a cue maker. If there isn't one in the area, you can send it off to anyone willing to do it.

ratcues is known for his excellent repair work, and you have a wide selection of ferrules and tips to choose from if you do choose him. I am sure the cost will be very fair.

if your going to reglue it, use slow cure glue so you can wiggle to the correct postion before it dries.

just dont want to make it worse . thought if i got it loose i could reglue it.

If the ferrule has a larger diameter, than the shaft it should be chucked up in a lathe, centered & then cut down & sanded smooth, while it's attached to the shaft. In other words.....take it to a repairman or cuemaker...JER

It is obvious you have not worked on cues, there are two ways to remove a ferrule that has been glued or epoxied in place by cutting off or by using heat to loosen the adhesive. I would not recommend working on it yourself because you will most likely damage the shaft, if like you say the ferrule is larger than the shaft wood where they meet the correct fix is to turn it down to the size of the wood using a lathe.

Take it too or send it too a qualified cue smith or cue maker, it is an easy job and it should not be very expensive.
