It was asked in another thread for a list types of ferrules used on cues. It will be a big job, but I will be willing to compile the answers and post it up here.
So let's get the cue repairman or cuemakers to list a few they have experience on and list how they are done. See below for example of how we will list them.

I will list a few here and will update this page as we get more posts.
-
Andy Gilbert - 5/16-18 threaded ferrules LBM (linen based melamine), ivory
BD Cues slip on. capped/uncapped. current standard is Juma, others in past
Bill Hagan - Antler ferrules, not sure of the tenon type
BK2 & 3 (break cues) use LBM. BK3 is possibly Ivorine 4, noticeably heavier weave
Brunswick - Older cues had slip on Cotton Fiber
Cuttlefish - Ali 2024 material
Dan Gehrung - 3/4" length capped & threaded (5/16-18). LBM, "Cueball" Phenolic, or Elforyn
George Balabushka - mostly Ivory, occasionally micarta.
Hightower - 5/16-18 threaded ferrules mostly linen based melamine, Ivory or Proprietary High Action plastic. Some very early cues had slip on ferrules.
Jacoby - Linen based melamine
Joey Bautista - .350 18TPI 3/4 long uncapped Mason Micarta
Joss -1980's and 1990's 5/16-18 threaded linen based melamine or Ivory.
Mali -1980's through 1990's had 5/16-14 threaded. Proprietary plastic.
Meucci - 1970's through 1990's had slip on ferrule. Proprietary plastic.
The last several years Meucci has done a few different things to their ferrules including some that are partially threaded and capped. Proprietary plastic. Suggested replacement material (High Action/Low Deflection ferrule material)
McDermott - 1970s through 1990's had 3/8-10 threaded ferrules. Cotton fiber or Ivorine.
Paul Disbennet - slip on Juma.
Pechauer - uses a proprietary mtrl. non-linen based. Cuts like Corion
Porper - 5/16-18 threaded, Proprietary plastic.
Rambow - Cotton Fiber or Ivory, slip on.
Predator - 1st Gen used isoplast. 2nd Gen started with Titan then went to Maxlite. Slip on, capped, with very short tenon.
Schmelke - Older cues had Cotton Fiber. Newer cues Linen based melamine or
Proprietary plastic. Slip on.
Schon - 1980s - 5/16-18 threaded ferrules. Early 90's Micarta and Ivory. 1990's to 2000s Linen based melamine. Currently using Ivorine 4.
Schuler - used a slip on ferrule. Early cues were Cotton Fiber', then Ivorine II or Aegis, Elforyn and Linen based melamine..
Tim Scruggs - 5/16-18 threaded ferrules mostly linen based melamine or Ivory.
Viking -pre 1990s have a metal screw that the ferrules threaded onto. Proprietary plastic. 1990's have 5/16-18 threaded ferrules. Proprietary plastic.
Kerry Zeiler of Zylr cues - used 5/16 18 capped melamine early on. Around 2001, switched to his own 5/16 18 capped Ivor-X

Term Defintions:
Slip on means it does not have any threads.
5/16-18 means it is threaded to 5/16 diameter with 18 threads per inch.

List of ferrule materials:
ABS
Aegis
Cast Phenolic (usually cut from a cue ball)
Cotton Fiber
Elforyn
Ivorine 3
Ivorine 4
Ivory
Juma
Linen Based Melamine - LBM
Micarta
Phenolic (canvas or linen based)
Proprietary Plastic (Their own secret plastic)
PVC

If you have other ferrule types to add to the list let me know those also.
Only list what you have personal experience with so as not to promote bad information.
You can also give your suggested ferrule choice to replace their priority plastic.

Schuler used a slip on ferrule. It was the 'fiber', then Ivorine II, and I believe he moved on to Elforyn by 2000.

I use invisible ones. Very light. The same ones Chuck likes. Definitely uncapped.

Sorry but Schuler Cue used Aegis then moved to Elforyn after Ray's death and then moved back to melamine with Jacoby.
Always slip on glued with CA
Triangle tips as standard
I personally glued a lot when I was in the shop...

I can think of a few guys on here that primarily use uncapped LBM and Juma ferrules. I'll let them speak up though as I can't verify.

I think I have it updated. It would be nice to hear from individual cuemakers that post on here their ferrule type history according to above format. Please post and not PM as it is easier on me.

Andy Gilbert - 5/16-18 threaded ferrules LBM (linen based melamine), ivory only on special request by customer (very rare)

bdcues.... slip on. capped/uncapped. Since shafts are custom my current standard is Juma but have installed many other materials. 2nd gen shafts coming out before long will have Hydex isoplast ferrules only.

When I sold cues for Ray he told me they were Ivorine II.They were also using LePro at the time. After that, they may have moved on to Aegis but that's what Ray told me around 1992 or so. I was in college after that point and was out of touch for a while.
