has anyone here had a chance to play with the woody ferrules that dave kikel advertises he uses on his cues......juston
No, but I often play with a shaft that has no ferrule. It has considerably less squirt than the same shaft with, for example, an ivory ferrule. With no ferrule at all, you have to be careful to use only fiber-backed tips or the wood can split.cuewhiz189 said:has anyone here had a chance to play with the woody ferrules that dave kikel advertises he uses on his cues......juston

tap tapity tap tipity tap tap...cuewhiz189 said:well troy in my opinion the only reason they use those soft ferrules is so that those crappy shafts have a minute amount of feel.....i feel predator is a joke and i cant believe they have lasted as long as they have......if the were what they claimed to be then why doesnt everyone play with them......simply cause you cant do anything with a predator shaft that a player on the same level cant do with a good straight shaft from any onf the top cuemakers.....they might help muecci and cues of that nature.....but they are nothing more than a way for a player to not have to have a decnet stroke......thats just what i think........juston
cuewhiz189 said:bob.....im not wanting to argue but what credentials do you have to back up that ferrules cause squirt ...
I believe a player of Mr. Jewett’s caliber knows what he is talking about. Too many people confuse the terms "squirt" and "deflection" as the way the shaft moves when the cue ball is stroked. Squirt and deflection are terms used to dictate the path of the cue ball after it is stroked with side spin, not whether or not the shaft gives or moves out of the way... JMHO.shawn said:in my opinion... if you cut off the ferrule you would get less squirt. not because of the lack of ferrule but because its then shorter. cut 6 inches off i think you would have even less. again, just my opinion.

Can you pls forward that to Bob Meucci and his robot?BiG_JoN said:I believe a player of Mr. Jewett’s caliber knows what he is talking about. ... as in deflects the cue ball, not the cueball deflecting the shaft... a$$hole... lol, i think they plugged it with some kinda foam...Joseph Cues said:Can you pls forward that to Bob Meucci and his robot?![]()
Hey, is Predator's patented "insert" the .250 by 5 inches bored hole?
Hmm, so patent applies to an AIRSPACE???![]()
I wasn't speaking of you in particular, just most people who think they know the secrets of quantum physics... applied to pool...shawn said:jon i wasnt saying that how much the shaft deflects off the cue ball was squirmore flexible shafts make it worse
That's right. Predators are designed in such a way that the tip of the shaft deflect off the cueball before the cueball squirts away from the tip.BiG_JoN said:... as in deflects the cue ball, not the cueball deflecting the shaft... a$$hole... lol, i think they plugged it with some kinda foam...
Thanks,
Jon <- going to bore a hole in his shaft, fill it with expanding foam, then put on a ferrule made of human skin (slightly harder and heavier than predators) with a new hollow ultra tip!!!! I'm a GURU!!!!![]()
Barney, what would the point in arguing be?Barney said:I was just told Bob Jewett runs the rsb site, that is his to post his views and now he's here to post his. Every one here who went over to rsb and tried to post views were slammed into tomorrow by him and his pals. A ton of deflection stuff is now going up by Meucci and predator on www.billiards-pool.net and on the thread: Question about shafts? Explain Deflection once and for all? ( 1, 2) go to the end of page two, it is being said this no ferrule is all bunk and bs. Sounds like we are in for a great debate. Blud, jump in here and tell em Ivory is the best and the only way to go, don't let Jewett run you off your pulpit.
