fiber rings in joint collars

not sure what kind it is
normally i would just cut phenolic rod
but i bought some fiber rings from prathers and they just seem
too soft ??

I used the fiber rings in some of my earliest cues. The problem is that is swells much easier than the wood or Phenolic rings and seemed to give me more problems. Even worse than nickel silver rings. Didn't notice much difference in the hit but the swelling was awful.

into the trash they go then , somehow i knew they didnt have the density
to them .. but didnt think of swelling
 
The phenolic Is the way to go, I was using wood to wood before, and concidering even fiber, or phenolic around silver rings. These Guys turned me on to the phenolic, and I am very happy with It, It trims and faces very well, just be carefull with the cutoff, It does like to grab alittle sometimes with a manual cutoff tool, but besides that It machines very well, and the faces barely even need sanding. Don't think I will be using any fiber anytime soon. Greg
