Filipino Cue Review- another one.....

I started this "Ebay Guide" in 2007, over four years ago. It has been updated several times since then. I know these cues have been picked apart in these forums before, I read here years before I registered. This is one of my Audrick cues:

Yes, those are ivory diamonds, no cheesy MOP handle here. The cue was straight when I got it and is straight today. So are the other two that I own. I chose this one for the pics because it is my favorite of the three.

I am no expert, it's just what I think. I paid between 130 and 150 for these cues as I remember. I really think they are a strong value if you are looking for a cue under $200 and don't mind buying from the Philippines. I bought them only because I was curious.

And I am still learning to use my camera. Just found the macro button tonight....that helped. :thumbup:

Thanks for the post but cheesy MOP wraps would not be the word id use to describe them. Also ivory is that not hard to get in and out of international customs?.

All i know is i have spent countless hours researching these cues and i find them advertised elsewhere for much more than what I'm asking for.

I have just spent 3 hrs with a photographer and i will post the pictures when i get them back , these photos are excellent quality and are very detailed , then you can let me know if the wraps are cheesy.

All due respect, yes, MOP handles look cheesy in my view. Remember, art is in the eye of the beholder.

Although I am not sure, you may find that is a common notion regarding MOP handles in the US.

I do like MOP diamonds, dots, etc....handles are different.

As for the ivory, I bought these in 2007. Not a big deal at the time.

Its All good this is what this forum is all about , i put these cues here for peoples opinions and i thank you for yours. Cheesy to me sounds like the cue maker has cheated in a way thats why i asked the question

Unfair to lump all cues made in the Philipines together

As the title says, cue builders cannot be lumped together. Audrick cues are different in style and quality from those made by Dindo Perez, Joel Dadivas, Bebot Batista, etc... so I always cringe when I see titles that imply all these cues are comparable. You cannot do this with US makers either.

Definitely can't lump them together. It has not been my intention to lump them at all. Audrick cues cannot compare to the top work from Filipino craftsmen. They are pretty, functional, shoot well, and a pretty good value for the buck. They do have issues for sure.

The reason I said "another Filipino cue" was in reference to the recent review we saw here. If you take a quick look the design of the two cues as far as the inlays is similar. It is a common theme in Pi cues apparently. But I think you will agree the execution is worlds apart. Check the closeups.


Frankly, why anybody serious about shooting that does not have much cash buys a brand new cue I will never know. Too many great used Joss cues and others available in this price range. If you look hard enough you get get one hell of a cue for under 200 bucks.

I am confident that what attracts people to these things is the bling. Some people will buy a car with racing stripes and think it's faster. A lot of that happened in the mid seventies with American cars. Put stripes on a dog and SS/GT/RS/RT or some other badge ans Sparky thinks he is driving a race car.

Put a fancy looking cue in some people's hands and they think they are Efren....perhaps it helps if a Filipino made the cue.
