Filler Vs. Gorst

At the moment this appears to be the best match up for a high stakes long race. I think a race 120 10 ball seams to be the most logical format. I would rate a match like this as a coin toss. If I was forced in to betting I would go Gorst by 5 games. I really like both men equally. Both young, talented, hardworking, nonshittalking, clean, don't seam to be drug addicts all around professional minded young men. I feel like they are both a major boost to the sport. If they square off I will buy the stream and watch the whole thing. Sound off, what do you think?

That would be great. Is it me, or is there not a lot of interesting pool going on? Have not been following it closely so please do refer me to some good stuff.

A thread was started on onepocket.org about 2½ weeks ago saying that a Filler/Gorst all-around match was being negotiated -- one-pocket, banks, 9-Ball, 10-Ball. But I haven't seen any further information about it.
I hope an arrangement can be made between both camps to make this happen. An all around feels like even more of a coin toss. I have no confidence in calling this type of match which makes it all the more intriguing.

An all-around would be very hard to handicap. Josh has a clear edge at 9ball, 10 ball seems pretty even, and Fedor would have a slight edge at both banks and one-pocket. Let's hope this happens.

I'd consider it the first marathon match played between the world's two best players in the last 50 years. For the record, when Efren hooked up with Earl in the Race to 120 in the late 1990s, Jose Parica was quite a bit better than Efren at 9ball.

Yeah I don't think so. Filler will win any discipline against Gorst. Just saying.

What are you basing this conclusion on.

Tournament wins or money games?

i would fully agree with stu.. fedor showed last year in WC, US open, masters where he is in the pecking order and he's no slouch in long race money matches either (10b / 1p). filler has been racking up titles for for 7 years and almost made a clean sweep at DCC last year, won buffalos the other week.. it's a very interesting rivalry between two great all around players. PPV and tickets would sell like hot cakes

Gorst didn't even attempt to play him at DCC last year, just gave up.

i don't like forfeits in general, but it kinda made sense at that hour of the day when he knew he was gonna play the banks and 1p finals in a couple of hours. can't argue with the result of that decision
Yes, excuses. He knew what he was getting into with DCC, the idiotic playing 20+ hours a day and all. It wasn't his first rodeo. All that being said, it was definitely the sane thing to do. Regardless, from a fan perspective (who also stayed up to that late hour just to watch), it sucked. And I don't buy that it was because of the upcoming 1p and banks finals, like 2 hours to go get some sleep would make a difference.

Earl & Sigel played a Challenge Match in 9-Ball, in 1985, Race to 45- Earl 45, Sigel 44. Does this qualify as the two best players matching up, in 9-Ball?

Efren had the better career, but in the late 1990s, when the Earl vs Efren marathon match occurred, Parica was the state of the art at 9ball, ranked #1 on the PBT at the time. Road players who were happy to match up with Efren, with CJ Wiley being the most obvious, knew better than to try their hand against Parica.

In the late 1990s, at 9ball, Parica was both the best tournament player and the best action player.

Not a marathon, but no question that they were as good as anybody in the late 1980s at 9ball. Good example.

This needs to happen.

For anybody who was watching the Roy's Basement livestreams when Filler played the ghost in every conceivable game when the pandemic first hit ...pure offense...his ability is incredible.

I'd bet Filler and if I lost, I'd bet him again.
