Pedro, wins 2nd year in a row Champion of Champions

Pedro Piedrabuena repeated as the Champion of Champions with a stellar 35 to 33 win over Hugo Patino highlighted by a run of 16. Pedro was clearly the best over the four-day event, losing only once and posting a 1.440 grand average. Hugo suffered two loses and had the second highest average at 1.417. Trailing 17 to 8, Pedro started his run. When it was over, he led 24 to 17. Hugo seemed dazed for a few innings as Pedro built his lead but then Pedro faltered. The last three billiards were elusive, and Hugo staged a come back. At 34 to 33, Hugo missed a long-short-long shot but left Pedro with all three balls in a line. After pondering the shot for nearly a minute, Pedro played an up-down shot (long, short, long) for the win. Finishing third was Miguel Torres with a record of 8-2 and an average of 1.281.
