Finally finished my home-made taper bar! Works great! Here are some pics and a video of it's operation. I 3d printed the carriage brackets etc. The router is mounted on 10mm thick carbon fiber plate. The frame is made with 20x20 extruded aluminum. It is spring loaded and adjustable.

Here is a video of its operation.

Nice build, what did you use for the controller? If you turn the router upright and use a 3 or 4 winged cutter, you'll get a smoother cut 😉.

Also, you can buy a router clamp on Amazon for pretty cheap which is more rigid than the factory mount. I had an issue with chatter on bigger cuts and these two changes resolved that.

I am currently using a drill :). I have a nema 27 that I will eventually incorporate but I have a couple more things I want to add to it before doing that. And I want to start building cues dammit!

Awesome work! It must be a great feeling to have your equipment cutting wood with the garage door open mid morning on a nice day! I can imagine that smell.

That's pretty cool that it would just snap on about any taig based lathe and be ready to go.

Thanks. All but the router and carbon fiber was pretty cheap. Around 60 bucks or so. The jackscrew was $72.

Carbon fiber i had left over from my drone flying days. Had a guy water cut it for me for 25 bucks.
