Finally purchased a lathe!!!

I have watched and read the cuemaker forums and been dying to buy a lathe for at least 4 years. It all started when I had the chance to do some cue repairs at a pool hall and then met Big Joe Trombetta and started the process of building a couple cues. Shortly after, I moved about 9 hours away from that pool hall and I've been itching to do cue work ever since.

Now about 4 years later, I have enough space to have a lathe of my own and I pulled the trigger on buying a Hightower Deluxe. The most painful thing is that now I'm like a kid at Christmas time just waiting and for the day to come that I receive my lathe and can open it up and get started.

I will be doing repair work in my area and I also plan to start buying some wood and slowly but surely start building some cues. I know how valueable good advice and good suppliers can be, so if anyone has any advice or cares to share any suppliers for tips, materials, or wood, I would be very thankful. I can't wait to begin the journey of building some cues, and I will certainly be thankful for any guidance anyone cares to share either in pubic of by pm.

Thanks,

Spencer

Sweet!!
Just read EVERY post in here and in Cue Machinery EVERY day - even if they don't seem relevant - and you will learn a LOT.

The guys here are extremely generous with their time and advice.

Enjoy!!

congratulations and welcome to the bandwagon!
I hope you'll find it rewarding, and I know it will be. it's a good way to relax and enjoy life:thumbup:

welcome to the addiction, from now on evertime you go to a yard sale or antique mall you will be loking at old furniture wondering what kind of wood that is and if its big enough to make a forearm, or some piece of a cue, costantly praying a bowling alley goes out of bussiness and puts the lanes up for sale for shaftwood and searching craigslist daily for machinery.

maybe thats just me lol:thumbup:

have fun.
