OK, so I finally am getting to go out to Vegas this year in May, for the VNEA annual tournament, around Memorial Day weekend. I've never been out to Vegas before, so for those of you who HAVE been there, what should I make sure I go see or do there? I'm going out to play but I'm sure I'll have plenty of time to check things out while I'm not playing. I guess I'm asking for a lil advice here guys, so if you have any good suggestions, plz. leave them here for me. I know I have a ways to go before we leave yet, but I'd like to go out there prepared for the experience. Thanks in advance, Jeff

Jeff...I played in the VNEA national tournament for 8 years in a row. As long as you're going to go, you might as well play in the singles events as well. I think the entry fees are less than $100 for each event, and if you win your first couple of matches, usually you make your money back. Any more and you'll make money. You have to go for the weekend prior to the team tournament (so you'll be there 9 days, instead of 5), but lots of players do that. They have both 8-ball & 9-ball singles, and scotch doubles, if you can find a partner (you don't have to partner up with someone from your league area...it can be anyone who is a qualified VNEA player...even from Canada or somewhere else). They have a big party the night before the team event, and it's alot of fun. Free beer and chips, and usually there is some kind of entertainment. Hope this helps...

whatever you do, make it to the pool parties at the Riviera, and if you have one, bring a camera. They are definitely worth the time.
Not sure yet if I'm going, but if so..........see you there.

If you have time (forbid you get put out of the tournament) go see the Hoover Dam...it is only about an hour away. Rent a car or there are tour buses you can take...it is awesome to see.
 
Too much to see and do in the time you will be there. I've been out there a few times for both VNEA and APA tournaments and the one thing I haven't had a chance to do yet that I really want to do is go see the Grand Canyon. Maybe one of those upscale helicopter tours.
 
I highly recommend

getting tickets to Cirque De Soleil. "O" is a great show. Make sure to get "Wet Seats". I've also heard the "KA" is a great show, but haven't seen it yet.
