Find an attacking move here

The statement that this triple combo is wired is absolutely ridiculous. Even if you hit the ten, it's probably one out of five. Kicking at it jacked up is not very easy, and, as the balls in the combo are separated, you'll have to have plenty of speed left when you get to the ten, and that's almost inconceivable. Of the shots suggested in this thread, I think the one most likely to be made is the two rail kick at the fifteen, although one will be jacked up on this and it's probably only 20% for an expert.

The thread demands that a low percentage shot be selected and played with no regard for the leave if one misses. Doesn't seem to me we're playing 14.1 here at all. It's a game of discipine, and this thread demands an undisciplined shot.

I only hope that no new and impressionable 14.1 players read this thread.

I have to come to the defense of Vahmurka. With all respect to your opinion. Yes, it is not good to promote shots like these to a new player but a high % of the players here are not new to the game. Hopefully, new players will ask questions about certain situations like they have always done when coming over here. I would say that most of us all know that defence is a big part of the game.

The best example I can give to look for these type of shots & to attempted them are situtations that come up in the Pro/Amateur tournaments such as the Derby Classic. Where a player has five chances to add up their high runs. They do attempt shots like these to keep going. That right there should put a end to any criticism of these kind of shots.

I do believe that posting a shot like this is fun for us here on the 14.1 Forum and is interesting to try to figure out.

I do agree that if one is merely seing what they can run, anything goes, even shots that would be unconscionable in a match, and the qualifier at DCC is such an example. Still, I'll stick with the statement that this is not really 14.1 at all. Thankfully, to win the DCC 14.1 challenge you must win three matches against top players and if you play shots like these, which give opponents unearned opportunities, your chances are not very good. I contribute $1,000 to the DCC 14.1 Challenge every year but would not support it at all if it were only a high run contest.

Lastly, I did not interpret this thread as "what would you do in a qualifier?" Anyone, at any skill level, who wants to play this game well sould focus on "what would you do if you were playing 14.1 and this situation arose?"

You can interpret all you want but....
I think we know what we would do in a tournament match.

Dead Shot

I like going straight into the 3. The 6 goes off the 12 and the 4 looks dead in the side pocket. It looks like the path will be clear for the 4.

The 6 ball can not go off the 12 ball b/c the 14 ball is in the way. Look at the real photo of the table. As for the 4 ball.... on the drawing, I can see what you are talking about but again if you look at the real photo. The 14 would be contacted too much on the side (3 o'clock position), not in the at the 5 o'clock position. I think there is a space also between the 14 & the 4 ball. In the drawing like you, I think that 4 ball has a good chance to go. Good find.
