Finger Wraps (Lycra/Spandex) Abrasive?

Trying to get away from powder...wondering if the Finger Wraps made from Lycra is abrasive, towards shaft wood that is. I know this might sound crazy (and I probably am crazy lol) but I would imagine, over the course of many years...multiple hours of play every week...

Anyway, any info appreciated.

Have you cue shaft sealed and waxed with the proper wax.

Don't sand your shaft.... just wipe it with a paper towel.

If you shoot right handed, chalk your cue with your right hand and vise versa.

Wash your hands often while you play. Use soap and cold water.

Dry you hands.....

There is no need for powder.

I agree with Kim. I used to use powder, but it gets on the table and it mixes with the perspiration from your hand and turns into a gunky mess on your shaft. My hands were always sweaty or clammy and the shaft wouldn't slide smooth through my bridge.

I changed to a glove and never looked back - I was over-shooting at first because I was used to judging some of the cue speed with my bridge hand and the glove is so slick. I quickly learned to compensate for that.

I'm not sure why finger wraps would be better, but different strokes for different folks.

My 2 cents,

Gary

Not a cuemaker, but it's unlikely that lycra would do anything to a wood shaft... the material is elastic and I don't think the fibers are anywhere near the hardness of wood...

Not likely......

The only way lycra/spandex would be at all abrasive was if you put so much pressure that the fibers of the glove would be pressed into the wood grains of the shaft. You aren't an 800 lb. gorilla, therefore, you will not abrade your shaft wearing a lycra/spandex glove or finger-wraps.

sweaty hands

use the invisible glove, its a liquid that dries to your skin and can be washed off with soap and water.just apply to the stroke area of your stick.
