On our second day of business, Steve Lipsky succeeded in attaining the room's first 100+ run - he ran 113 on our tight pocket table (4 1/4" pockets). Tony Robles & Thorsten Hohmann just walked in so we'll see if that stands for long.

No one deserves that honor more than Stevie Lipsky.... all other runs will not equal to his, no matter how high.....Stevie was 1st

Jude,

To my credit, the run could have been higher. Here's what happened: I ran 77-and-out against my opponent, and sheepishly asked him if he wouldn't mind if I kept shooting, only because I wanted to be the first player in the new room to break the century. Lol, simply shameless.

So once I made the 100, I started feeling really guilty asking him to just sit there... I started shooting balls about every ten seconds lol, and then missed a shot that was pretty easy. I kind of feel stupid for not taking the run more seriously, as I might really have been able to put up a number.

Now with Tony and Thorsten in there, I should've put up something they'd at least have to sweat to beat, lol!

P.S. Jude, please remove balls 11-15 from their tray and politely imply that you'd love to see them play 10 ball. ;)

Congrats Steve. It seems you are really in stroke and ready for the tournament this weekend.

Next week you can always go back to Society Billiards and be the first one to run 200.

That is bewildering; 4.25" pockets have a way of actually shooting balls back at me. I think my high run is 14 on my pool hall's equivalent table... not that I should be a benchmark for many of you.:D

Great work, man.

You guys are kind but the table was brand new, so the pockets were definitely not playing that tight. I was hitting the balls well but the fear factor was lessened just slightly due to the new cloth. Sometimes that's all you need to put your mind at ease.

Still, my run is not the real story. I hope everyone from the area checks out Society. There are some pictures of the place in a thread on the main forum, and they give you some idea as to the work that has gone into this new room. Jude, as the general manager, will make sure everything is right from a player's perspective. I am so happy for all my friends who are involved with this project.
