I'm no expert, but given Bolas excellent response with photos, let me see if I'm right.
Regarding wood-to-wood vs stainless steel joint. Look at the photos. The wood-to-wood cues look more like a one-piece house cue, whereas with the stainless joint you cab obviously see the metal where the two pieces join together. That is probably a difference maker if you are looking for the "sneaky" aspect of the cue, making it look more like a one-piece house cue. As for how that affects your playability, if at all, I cannot say. I expect that you will find many who prefer each style, and I further expect that it probably isn't a significant difference in reality, but I really don't know that for sure. Perhaps folks with more experience will chime in here soon to clarify this.
The "points" are quite literally the number of points on butt of the cue, the very tip of each of the dark parts on the butt, pointing towards the tip end of the cue. I was confused about that term when I started getting further into this, as well. Points are all a matter of style preference, and has no bearing on playability. Again, that is as I understand it!
