First Cue

I've been playing seriously for a few months now and am ready to make the plunge.

The first cue that really caught my eye was a Schmelke M061. It is certainly one of the prettier cues I've seen for the price. It has a nice rosewood with a butterfly. (Sorry cant post links yet, but its right off their site)

I'm looking to spend under $200 including case any supplies etc.

I have heard good things with Schmelke especially for the price.

What are your guys thoughts?

Also I can't really decide on tip size, joint type or even the tip itself. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Considering you have only been playing a short time-go ahead and do it. You won't have to relearn how to aim.

Ummmm No thats a flat laminated shaft not a predator or something like that id stick with the regular shaft something that actually has some feel to it.

and I would get it with the 3/8x10 pin at 18.5 ounces if possible.

a flat lam shaft personally i think is junk, not even good for breaking.

you need to learn how to aim the right way before you get on the predator/OB banwaggon.

good luck

I thought it was an LD shaft. Rabbits right.

The Schmelke laminated shaft features 16ply hard maple laminates, cold pressed, to maintain color and quality.

The laminates create an artificial grain to help maintain straightness and create a hard hit, with less flex than a standard maple shaft.

This is from Schmelkes site. Not sure if they are trying to say it's an LD shaft or not.
