My friend Jimmy came over yesterday and got me outta the house for the day to show me around to the new rooms in the Allentown area. We went to 2 places.....Hill Billiards I think it was called, was first. I like this type of room, looks like it was a Union hall, or Elks lodge originally with real high ceilings and an open cathedral feeling. They had about 10 GC3's and 3 Kim Steels but we played on table 1 the typical action table next to the counter for clocking purposes
. It was snug, but fair. We played about 2 hours of 1pocket, and I got smoked, Jimmy knows patience is not my strong suit. Wanna beat me easy?...push em up able!
2nd we went to Gallery Billiards, Holy Crap!...it looked like a beautiful ocean of Gold Crowns! No lie, I have never seen so many (40) well kept tables in one place in my life. We played on table 1 again, it was the tightest Crown I've played on at maybe 4". Again I got the short end of that experience! The strange part was the sermon we got from the counter guy before playing. No foul language AT ALL....NO smoking near the tables...etc...I TOTALLY understand why, but a well placed sign would have done the trick. It was weird getting this from a young dude.
Both places were great, but I'd most likely play at the first, it has more of an old school action room feel, with the second one as beautiful as it is, it has a corporate mini mall billiard room feel with slightly high table time. Trust me, I'm not even coming close to slamming this place....it is a superb room.
So, all in all a great day, next I think were gonna hit Drexeline, and say Hi to Florida Bob. Hopefully they have the Snooker table up by the time we get there
