First DCC match.

William Fowler was my last match and I just wanted to say a few words about him. First it was a true pleasure to play him. He shared some stories about players he played with and obviously has a lot of mid to high level pool experience. He played real good conservative one pocket and taught me several moves. I thought I would be able to hang with him and I might have been able to had I played patiently but he taxed that patience considerably with stellar answers to every trap I put him in. I hope he goes far in the event because he has a lot of great one pocket in him.

All in all I enjoyed my rookie tournament and even though working a booth and other life events made it exhausting to focus 100% on the game at hand I am having a great time.

Now looking forward to gambling a little and getting some tunes ups by a couple pros who have volunteered to help me out. Last night I played Kenny Brisbane and look forward to doing more of it when I am not so tired. He controls the cue ball like he has telekinesis.

Want to congratulate Mr Barton on his rookie one pocket season at the Derby. And maybe next year bring someone to run your case booth do you can devote 100% to playing in the tournament.
All so I want to say that I really haven't been on here in over a year so I don't know what's going I with you & Lou. But it takes some balls to put up $10,000 of your own money on a game your still learning to play.
Want to wish you good luck in your match & your mission in the U.S..

It beats spending your entire adult life, grasping at 'Aiming Systems' in hopes of becoming at least a competent pool player. Then, masking your disappointment with bullsh*t and bravado ! :sorry: (Hundreds you say ???..How about 20,000+ posts ?)

Yes...PLEASE do the math, newcomer ! :p

SJD I know you're new to the internet but you really need to find some new material.

You have continuously attached the same 4 pictures for the last 5 months.

Here is a helpful link for you to grab some new material.

Thanks. I can tell you though that if I have a booth then I will never devote 100% to playing. Although when I was in the games I was 100% there for sure. I prefer actually to force my brain to focus on the task at hand. I think that as humans we do have the capacity to switch gears when needed and block out everything else. But it requires practice and getting in the grease to do it. You can't theorize about how to do it you simply have to do it.

It's why I go get in action when I am really tired. I have to learn how to play tired, how to play with a booth, how to play with chickens in the background, and really just how to play :-)

I am still learning to play one pocket and for a guy my speed there is ALWAYS more to learn. I was talking about this to a bonafide champion last night and he told me that when two guys are close and they get down for a long session then often it comes down to the one who shows more heart. He said he would bet on the guy with heart every time because that guy wants it more and is willing to do whatever it takes to pull out that win.

I would never waste an opportunity like this event to play many different guys and study many different styles. There is no one right way to play one pocket but there are smart ways, conservative ways, aggressive ways, and combinations of all of them. Regardless of what happens between me and Lou in March I will be a better player and have made a lot of friends and have a lot of new memories of the journey and all the games played. My life has already changed for the better and I am in love with pool again.
