First Joint for success

Yes I'm a college grad, so not those joints....(get that out of the way)

I was wondering in your opinions, which joint combo is the easiest to master. Specifically a 3/8-10-wood, or the 5/16-18 to a brass insert.
I completely understrand the right tool for the job, and good machining practices. I am starting with a few cue "assemblies" and I am trying to decide which way to go. Your thoughts are appreciated.
Thanks
Steve

I have always been a big fan of KISS (keep-it-simple-stupid). Drill or bore one hole, then tap. Less chance for mistakes. Simple & it's a good joint...JER

3/8 x 10 is what I like the best. Overall, for install and hit. I wouldn't say it's the easiest, just the best in my opinion. Good luck.

first joint

3/8 X 10 or 11 may be your best bet. Any joint using an insert adds one more chance for error in the process. Inserts are not always made accurately. If you need to buy a tap, make sure you get one with the nose pilot on it. It makes the job much more accurate. If you already have the tap you can do the pilot yourself if you have access to a decent metal lathe and carbide tooling.
I love the hit of the simple 3/8 x 10 joint. I feel the vibration of the cue better in my hand it seems. But I have not yet made a threaded wood joint . That wood pin and thread is prevalent in Billiard cues.

3/8 10 here also but with G10 pin because of the great hit in my opinion, but all 3/8 10 pin types hit good to me.--Leonard
