Hi folks, my name is Josh, and I've just started playing pool again. As a 13 - 14 year old I had a set of keys to the local bar and worked cleaning the bar early in the morning before I went to school. The bar owner would allow me to open the door and let a select couple of friends in to play pool when the bar was closed during the day. That's how I started playing... Fast forward to a few months ago and I started playing in a friends weekly game and got hooked again.

When I decided to buy a table I called a local guy here and he had some 7 and 8ft tables, but only one 9 footer, and it was a furniture table, I wanted more of a commercial table. After some discussion and me mentioning maybe a used Gold Crown, he told me, and I quote "9 foot tables are very rare, and if you find a Gold Crown worth playing on it will cost you at least 4 - 5 grand just for the table"

Now, I don't know much about tables, but just looking around on this forum I knew he was full of it.

I'm in VT, so after researching around and seeing everyone's recommendations I contacted Jay at A1 Billiards. This was a couple weeks ago.

Today, they will be installing a 9ft House of Lords commercial table in my garage that fit within my budget and was no where near $5K plus delivery and installation, and after reading a lot on this forum I know Jay and crew will do a bang up job.

I've spent the last 2 weeks getting my garage ready to accept the table. I still need to replace a couple windows and there is some crap piled in one corner waiting for my shed to be built so it can be moved, but there will be room to play.

Pictures will follow after we are all set up. Thanks to everyone on the forum for the knowledge sharing. Without this forum I would have had no idea that pool table installers would travel this distance or that Jay was THE GUY to reach out to in the New England area.

I just last night got all the static out of a 60's Magnavox Astro Sonic console stereo and got the weak speaker to come back to life and the RCA inputs working again. I'm basically just using it for the amp and speakers, it's connected to a tablet with Pandora, Sirius/XM and Tune In radio for the local stations.

Table is from the 60's and is orange and white, I have a bunch of antique saws and work working equipment decorating the walls and I have a friend who is going to make me a light shade out of reclaimed 1800's barn board to use with a LED shop light (or maybe 2) over the table.

Welcome, Josh! Where in VT?

Freddie <~~~ loves the Green Mountain coffee

Welcome, Josh. That was a great introduction you gave. Nothing at all like the jerk-offs who pop in here from Facebook, acting like they own the place. I hope you enjoy your new table.
Also, make sure you sign up for our next field trip. Tuesday, the twenty-forth, we're all getting on the AZ bus and heading to Fort Wayne, Indiana, to see some of the world's best cat juggling.
Cat jugglers from all over will be competing for cash prizes in excess of three-hundred dollars. And not only that, the over-all winner will also receive a years supply of cat chow.
Cat juggling, as I'm sure you know, began in Mexico, and has since gained wide-spread popularity in the United States, Canada, and parts of Nova Scotia.
There are two classes in International cat juggling. Kittens (under a year old), and adults, and the rules for juggling cats are simple: Drop a cat and you're out, and accidentally stepping on a cat while doing your routine is a ten point penalty.
Lot's of fun. See you there.

I'm in Waterbury, right between Montpelier and Burlington.

I've been working at Green Mountain Coffee since September of 1996.

Welcome to the forum and congrats on the table.

Here is where the table will sit, closer to the garage door as the slab is uneven toward the man door. If you look closely you'll see the front of my 88 Suzuki Samurai trying to photo bomb the picture.

And facing the other side of the garage where junk is waiting to be moved into the 16x20 shed I am building to house my toys now that the garage is a game room. Last winter I had the Samurai, 2 Goldwing 1200's (mine and my fathers), a KLX250s, Honda Ruckus, 2 full size ATV's, snowblower and other misc junk stored in there.

Looking good

Welcome to the forums! Please keep us posted with pictures when you get the table

Soooo, Mr Martin....you like to decorate your walls with 'old saws'?
...well, here's a couple...

"In a calm sea, every man is a pilot."

"Rome was not built in a day."

I hope you enjoy your table.....
...the Tramp and I might just drop in for a visit....we play one-pocket...
...I don't know about Tramp, but I like my coffee black.
:)

Josh and his son Austin from A1 Billiards did the delivery and install last night. What a great couple of guys and fantastic work. To say I am pleased would be a huge understatement.

Some photos for your viewing pleasure.

I haven't yet had the pleasure of meeting Austin, but Josh is a good dude. Congrats on your new setup!

Josh...Welcome to the forums! Looks like you got a nice table that should last you a long time. Enjoy it, and don't forget to have an internet connection in the garage, so you can set up shots that you see here, and try them out!

My personal favorite, I have to assume it's German because of the way I pronounce it in my head.

"Vy iz der zo many more orziz azziz dan der is orziz?"

Stop by any time you are in the area.

love that retro table.

time to decorate the whole garage in "mid century modern" style

Table

Bowlmor - house if loards. That table is a beast, built to compete in it's day with the gold crown. It's been years since I've seen one... As a matter of fact it was jay that informed me that bowlmor made a pooltable.

FYI- bowlmor purchased brunswick bowling division and bowlmor also aquired AMF.

Enjoy your table and be sure to hangout and post often, you'll meet and deal with some nice guys&gals and even some people in between...
