Finished up the rails last night and finally got to play a few games. The table is playing really well!
I found the most difficult part was gathering the cloth around the head and foot corners without getting wrinkles. The irony is that by the time I got to the last couple of corners, I was getting pretty decent at it.
It's nice to have cushions with some bounce to them and cloth that lets you play position. The old cloth I likened to playing on swampgrass it was so slow and unresponsive.
I was able to play with the torque on the rail bolts and the crush of the cloth under the rails to dial in a perfect 1 7/16" for the cushion nose height.
Again, thanks to everyone's knowledge and willingness to pass that on in these forums, I was able to do this myself, and at a quality level that could only be exceeded by a top mechanic in my area.
I have to say that this has been eye-opening. I am amazed at the level of work and experience that doing a job like this takes, and can't believe what it must be like to have customers that have no idea what's involved try and nickle-and-dime you to death.
Thank you again...
Now to get rid of those god-awful pockets and replace them with a set of natural tan finish with leather shields! I don't know WHAT the original owner was thinking!
