well i played 14.1 last night for the first time. i love it...even playing on a crappy bar box...no coin mec. i played one of the locals who basically took it easy on me. my highest run was 16...gotta get better at breaking them out :) just wished i would have started playing sooner...need to find a perscription to this addiction before it gets too bad....

Your fate is sealed. You now have only two paths; A life of seemingly endless trips to the fool hall, perfecting your 14-1 game or, if you are smart, a few weeks of intense therapy at Pool Players Anonymous. :(

Just recently -after watching Jim Rempe's videos. i highly recommend them- my game has gotten much better. I am able to see the "patterns" and set up break balls much easier now. Unfortunately, as my confidence grows so do my missed shots.

I remember playing this game with a very good one pocket player in DallAss. He blew a gimmie and exclaimed, "WHY CAN'T I PLAY THIS GAME." LOL..... If you realizes this simple straight pool rule, that any shot can be missed no matter how simple, your runs will increase.

Also, Willie Mosconi has said more than once, that it's important to get a "rhythm". I concur. A rhythm gets you "in-stroke" and play becomes effortless. Obsessing over every shot wears you out and makes high runs almost impossible.

Great game.

No game I know of separates different speed players like 14.1.

My first ever pro event was the 14.1 Worlds here in New Jersey a few months ago.

BTW a 16 ball run even on a bar table is an accomplishment!

I totally agree, that is gooder. I am messing around with the game and find it much better to practice then eightball, so i play this and do my drills. Great Game.

thanks gregg...16 isnt much but i thought it was considering it being my first time playing....i have watched many games but never played. bar box tables are all i play on. i live in the middle of nowhere and have to drive a half hour just to get to them...i would have to drive an hour if i wanted to play on some decent tables or any tables bigger than a bar box. my friend had a walmart table for years when we were growing up (im 19) so going from it to a bar box was a big jump up...lol. iv only played on bigger tables 2 or 3 times...just so used to smaller ones

14.1 Is Truly The One Game Where You Set The Opponent In The Chair Forever. No Slop Balls, Luck Is Minimized, No One Ball Slop Wins A Game, No It's MY Turn To Break, Etc.

You now have no future, and no past. Your humanity has been reduced to that of a Blood Hound on a scented trail. You will live, breath, and eat, straight pool. You will ignore hunger pangs. Your dishes and laundry will pile. Your car will never again be washed. Family and friends will be cast aside and relationships scorned. YOU, my friend have made a big, BIG mistake...

I agree with Stroke; as I am in that position also!! But what a GREAT addiction!!!!! Kennyratt

straight pool is my fav game. i'll spend hours playin at the hall (and only play 2 games lol). that game makes u think really hard though and i like all the possibilities. its a pain leaving a good key ball for a break shot thats were i always mess up. good luck on ur new found addiction!

hadn't thought of it that way, but I think you are right. While I was mowing the lawn today, I was thinking about straight pool. Played a nice 6 hour match (420-370) at the pool hall last Saturday, and then played in two 14.1 leagues Monday and Wednesday. I hope to play tomorrow, too.
