First try at 6 pocket

I still haven't cashed the check, Dick. :)
I think i'll put it in a frame and hang it on the wall in my office.
You never know when I might get in a bind and need a couple of bucks.

Are you sure the ck is good?:o:thumbup: I'll cash it anytime you want!

I am proud you could even make a ball in San Antonio with those 3 pros watching. I would be lucky to have a 15 in 3 racks and you did it the first..............kudos to you.

Fast Eddies is having their first 6 Pocket tournament for league players on June 27 and 28. Looks like there will be $1,000.00 added to the $25.00 entery fee. Scores will include handicaps to determine the winner......are you going to play Billy?

This is the first that I have heard of it. I will definately play if someone will send me some information on it.
Where will it be held? What is the entry fee? Do I need to be affiliated with any particular league to qualify? Is it a handicapped tournament, or does everyone play scratch? Either way, I'm in........

I've played a few racks of this game. It's help me out alot. It will show you how bad you really play.lol. Great way to learn shot makeing. I hope this game will take off and have more tournaments.

The only qualifications to play are:
Be a member of the 6 Pocket League.
Have a quilified handicap on record throught 1 of our sanctioned facilities. This requires a minium of 5 scores recorded.
Pay your $25.00 entry fee and play.
It's open to any 6 pocket league player in the US with an established handicap. By the way, memberships are free until July 1.
We are working on having another $1,000.00 added tournament same as the Texas one on the same date at Poppa G,s in Pelham AL.

Hey Mr. Chilton

This is Alex, (the guy that did choke during the demo infront of the 3 pros LOL)

DC6pocket

Havnt meet you but I have heard alot form Sam. Looking forward to our first meeting.

I am helping get the tournament going here in San Antonio. The exact location for the tournament is tenative at this point but its shaping up to be the embassy location. This is thhe same location as our prior demo.

I think BChilton you should already be ready to sign up for the tournament and if you arent I can get you registered and you can send me your score card if Sam doesnt have one on file. This is going to be a great game and a great tournament I encourage everyone to come out and give it a whirl.

This game sounds pretty cool never heard of it before.Has it been around for awhile?

No, actually its less than a year that I got a patent on the game and concept and only about the last 3 months since it's been introduced to the world.

Play it, it's fast, it's fun, it's fair but not as easy as it looks!! Check out the web site 6pocketleague.com and it will answer most questions.

Thanks.....

Played a few matches today, I thought it was a fun game.

I, like most I think, didn't take it seriously enough in the opening games, as a result I had a couple 3's and 5's. I eventually smartened up and started applying my 14.1 knowledge.

The first few shots of each rack were quite nerve racking. An early miss can be very costly against a good player, as it would be tough to overcome a 10-13 ball deficit if your opponent is playing well.

I think that this format would probably entice players to improve more so than APA 8 ball or 9 ball. Against a good player who regularily runs 10-15 balls, a 3-5 ball runner will be doing an awful lot of sitting unless they get better.

I enjoyed playing, I was happy with my average for the day although I feel I can do better. But I still prefer my snooker and 14.1.

I had some time yesterday and tried it out. My first two frames were zeroes! Boy did I feel bad! The next frame was a 15 though. I ended up with another 15 later on, but did have a few other bad frames. I ended up with a 64.

I played it on a medium tight 9-foot table. I broke pretty good for the most part, but leaving the cueball towards the center is key since a few frames had me letting the cueball go and having only a few choice shots near the head rail. Even on a 9-foot table, a few frames had me breaking up some clusters. I think an 8-foot table would results in more clusters, but the shots would be easier.

All-in-all, it was a little more challenging than I first expected. I'll have to give it another try sometime. I really don't see myself playing it against anyone for money though! :p

Yep, I also didnt take it seriusly and now my 80 or so average is an eye opener. I can run 10,15,9,2,4,6 lol THEN WHAT?lol

Its a good game and people here in town are starting to play it ALOT!

We had a good time playing it last Wednesday. 6 of us put up 10 a piece, played scratch, no handicaps and a 79 won the money the first round and it took a 87 to win the 2nd round.

I could have made a hundred if I wasn't a chicken..........1 of the players, a pretty good one, wanted to bet he could shoot a 100. He is the one that shot the 87 in the 2nd round. We had a blast.

this is how i have always seen it played, doesn't matter how many are in it, sometimnes there are ten in it. First guys breaks, and sees how many shots it takes to make all three balls. Then the 2nd guy, 3rd guy, ect. Can't go past 5 shots, that is the same as a scratch, and you are out that round. The lowest number of shots wins that round. If there is a tie, which there usually is, the pot carries over to the next round, and eveyone antes up again. Pots can get rather large at times. A one or a two usually wins the pot. And, the break counts as a shot.

this! .........

Dick, me and a few guys play Tues. nite. Rick shot a 110 w/ 2 penalty I shot a 64 w/ 0 penalty. The next nite rick shot a 57 and I shot a 39. This game will tell you how good shoot on a daily bases. APA or BCA just tells you how good you can sandbag. I am a 6 in APA and I can lose very game I play and move down to a 2 if I wont too. Here in 6 pocket all of those games I suck at dont count. That will help stop sandbaggers.

I love this game!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Me too......

The game has a little bit of everything.. it is a shot makers game for the first few balls, but then you have to really focus on postion and pattern play in order to get out...

I play 14.1 as my main game, so this is a bit of a natural fit for me,

DC and I just had another 6pocket session

It was Dick's day today...I was terrible on this "simple" little game...I shot my worse score to date (34)
The more I play the game, the more I realize the worth of it...

I tried it on my bar box today.

Cool game. Something like Alen Hopkins total offense. But what I really like about it is you can play it on a 7' table at a sactioned poolroom. I just hope the one (s) that get sactioned near me have 7-footers. Eight-foot would be fine with me too. Just aren't old enough to play on a 9-foot with the big boys. Johnnyt

Thats a very good first time score.......Two questions. did you have any penalty points and do you think you can average your 116?

Did you figure out how to get to the sanctioned facility map? If not it is on your other post, 6 pocket.
