Hi all, I have a 7' Fischer coin op table to look at tonight to recover. I've never worked on one of these before. Are there any tips or tricks for removing the rails or slate. I hear that these are quite different from the standard Valley/Dynamo type bar boxes. Any heads up would be appreciated. Thanks.

Yeah, the rails unbolt from under the rails, and the rail blocks are held on with wood screws that you can only get to once you've taken the rails off and turned them upside down....good luck:D

Thanks Glenn. I already went and disassembled it before I could read your post. Looking back, I have done one of these before and didn't know the brand then. Good luck is right. Hell of a way to build a pool table! And I thought U. S. Billiards were bad. Thank you for your help.

Table

Once you remove the rail in one..Do the rails attach to the cap with wood screws at a angle?

Actually the rails have an extruded aluminum rail wood screwed to them. Then the rail assembly kind of wedges and folds into the cap, then wood screwed to bottom of cap. I'm going to add more screws to the aluminum in both places to hopefully secure the rails better. A crazy design.

Table

The tables like you have keep popping up more and more these days.... There coming out of the shadows showing there faces asking for help, some of those older tables get in such bad shape that they need to be put to the curb...don't get me wrong, there is a few worth the work those tables require..

Yes, there seems to be a glut of U.S.Billiards tables in this area. This Fischer will turn out fine though. Lots of pre flag Masters chalk and a couple of Hot Wheels cars in there.
