this afternoon, i watched fisher vs. thorndfeldt on espn. it was semi final #1 of the canadian classic. the match was ok, fisher lost on hill hill, but here's what i wanted to say. fisher made a shot, that was pure genius. thorndfelt played a saftey. fisher was faced with a long shot at the object ball, but it was half way blocked, meaning she could see the object ball, but it was the wrong side. the object ball was about 5 inches away from the corner pocket, and about 4 inches off the short cushion. the cue ball was straight on to the object ball, but all the way down table. about 5 inches in front of the cue ball was a blocking ball. the blocking ball was blocking the right side of the cue ball, the object ball she wanted to pocket, needed to be struck on it's right side, and cut to the left. wow, this is a lot of information! too bad diamonds don't have numbers, so i could say o.b. diamond #2 etc. anyhow, if you followed this so far, what allison did was pure sheer genius. the execution was perfect, but better than that, was that SHE THOUGHT OF THIS!!! that's the beauty, and genius of fisher! what she did was, she aimed straight ahead, with extreme right english, at medium soft speed, and let the cue ball "spin away" to the right, thus putting it right on track, even though when the cue ball departed it was completly off course! but due to spin away application the cue ball eventually ended up contacting the object ball in the exact correct point, and the helping english spun it in! genius, genius, genius!!!! anyone else seen this?

Hey, uhhhh...you wanna play some ?

to joeseph cues this was NOT a masse shot, it was a long distance spin away shot, much more intelligent, p.s. do you make cues, or is your last name cues?

point being, other pros, would have attacked the exact same situation differently. bustamante and reyes would have attempted a kick. jeanette lee would have attempted a jump. karen corr would have attempted a soft roll up saftey. strickland would have attempted a curve/swerve shot. i would have attempted a swift 2 cushion kick and stick shot. so my point being, fisher's shot was great, and it worked, like magic, great choice, thought and execution.

I can almost promise you that if half of the ball could be seen, bustamante nor reyes would try to kick at it. I've been wrong before.

Still a masse shot. Mild masse, but still a masse.

If I am picturing the shot correctly it's a spin throw shot. These are very useful shots. Basically you can hit the object ball in a spot where it would not go with no english but with extreme spin it will throw the object ball in the direction of the spin.

Allison didn't invent it but it sure it nice to see it played.

Bernie,

I didn't see it.

If you're not familiar with the WEI Table, what you do is copy the code here:

START(
%AE8V6%BT4W3%Cb5O6%DI7H0%Gp0J8%HO8L2%Ie8J4%Po0X2%WD2Z7%XE5W9
%bG1V2%cQ8X8%dm3X5
)END

Click on the link here:

WEI Table

And hit "paste".

Is this the shot you are describing? If not, then move the balls to where you want them to be, hit "copy", then in your next post paste the code like I did.

Chris

.... Sounds cool! Can't say I saw that... however, there is a specified # corresponce for tablel diamonds....starting at top left of the table -- foot-end, where your rack is, yea!! :) and, coming down, and around.. to end 15th diamond being...back up there on rhs of top left pocket.

So yea, she hooked around the blocking ball and made the object ball. Don't you know how to do that?

Silencer,

If you post up a thread, it's rude not to respond to a simple request for a WEI table layout.

Please read my previous post for a WEI table layout. I hate to waste my time to post up something and get no response.

Exactly. Many times, even if the ball is not seen.
:D
