Five Veneer Cues!

I like traditional styled cues and I thought I’d share some pictures of 2 cues that I own with points and 5 veneers. The 8 point cue is a Bob Runde cue and the 4 point Hoppe style cue was built by James White. I found it kind of strange that 2 different cue makers decided to build 5 veneer cues and they both selected the same veneer color combinations! I play with predator shafts and I have predator shafts that match both of these cues and I think they both play very well. The James White cue was built in 2003 and it’s pictured in the BB of Pool cues 3rd edition and it’s in flawless condition. The Runde is a 2006 cue and it was purchased from Bob at the 2005 DCC by a fellow AZer and I bought it from him. I hope that you enjoy the pictures!

Scruggs cues I don't know what I like more about them. The way they play or the way they look!
I like your 5 veneer cues too! Just don't see work like that alot!
Nick :)

I know John Showman mostly uses five veneers in his cues.

I also saw one with six veneers made by Ron Haley that was incredible looking. (I'm trying to pry this one away from the guy too.)

my Gilbert (and one other I've seen) have the same veneer colors. not as unique as i'd hoped, I see...heh.

Good stuff. I, too, really like the look of 5-veneered cues. Here's a pic of one of my favorites that Skip Weston made for me a few years back. On this one, I really like the natural color of the different woods....he mills them in. Think it was (inside-out) maple, paduak, satinwood, permanbuco, and ebony.

Oh yeah, and kudos to Zeeder for the fine picture.

I know the cue you're talking about and yeah. Its a looker. Ron makes some BEAUTIFUL cues. His design and craftsmanship rank him among the best in my opinion.

Kudos to a great cuemaker!

Thanks Sean. I've gotten better at the pics since I took that one. I think you should send it back and I'll take some better ones for you!

You're probably tired of seeing it, but here is another one from Mr. White. I think he likes this color combo. :p

WOW!

JW is really stepping it up! I would love to see a shot of 2 points...I guess I'll have to wait until it's finished.

-Roger (another potential choice for my next cue...)
