For those of you that might not have read the challenge update thread....

Will have match by match updates for the main event on our site www.platinumbilliards.com starting tomorrow evening

Per Shanesinnot....

Thanks Shane!

Platinum Billiards needs to contact the WPBA and teach them how to post tournament brackets online.... Platinum gives you the DAY and the TIME that the match is supposed to be played. Good job guys, thanks! Also, they're posting them now... it's not complete but they're getting there.

Thanks Timberly, we try!

I just went and looked at the brackets. Someone please correct me if I have drank too much, but I thought I saw a Larry Guniger listed. Is FL playing in this tourny?

Thanks Mike, I was gonna update the brackets every hour, but I am having fun with this now and am walking around with my laptop doing it as matches finish thanks to wireless internet in the poolroom!

The WPBA would not listen, they don't have time for such things. It's hard to believe that they (WPBA) somehow put together a color scheme, chart format, shading and font selection that has a result of being near totally incomprehensible to even seasoned tourament attendees. Pity the newbie that tries to make sense of that mess.

Congrats to Platininum Billiards -a great job.

The infamous Fast Larry Guniger had lost his first match. Oh, Mika is there as well, hope he does well ! Go Mika !

Edit: I also agree with the rest of the people that the website is very good and the brackets couldn't be any better. Good job !

Give FL a break. Half the people lose their first match. Too bad he loses his temper on the forums.

I hope he shoots well in the tourney.

Great website, and the brackets including the times are absolutely stupendous! This is the kind of coverage which is greatly appreciated for the inquiring minds back home! :)

Although I was pleased to see Frankie Alvarez finally win a match first time out of the gate, I was saddened to see that he had defeated AzBilliard's Blackjack. I hope Dave is at least enjoying his pool tournament experience, not having played competitively for some time.

It is a race-to-10, alternate break, and double elimination format, with an extended race at the end, instead of the losers' side having to beat the winners' side twice. What kind of equipment are they using, and which cue-ball, red dot or blue dot? It would be nice to see a picture of the inside of the pool room! [Hint, hint] :p

Just out of curiosity, how many UPA Touring Pros are in attendance? I saw some new names that were not familiar to me.

Florida is a pool happening kind of place these days, and lots of strong players have moved there in recent times because of it. Looking forward to some updates. If I had to pick a favorite to win this event, I am going to this time bet my Vcash on The Sniper. He played well in Vegas, and I think he's due to score that big "W."

Here's the link to the pool room's website. It seems like a nice place, can't wait to see it. Here's the low down...
22 - Olhausen Champion Pro Tables
3 - 7’ Diamond Smart Tables
Simonis 860 Cloth
Aramith Super Pro Billiard Balls
Cuetec House Cues
Smoke Eater Ventilation System
Internet Jukebox with Bose Speaker System
Sony 57" High Definition TV
65" Diamond screen H8gh Definition TV
27” TV’s Scattered Around

I could LIVE in that place!!! :D

Funny you mentioned Frank Alvarez... Frank & I are friends... he's never been anything but nice to me. Last night his was the last match from the 1st round. I kept waiting and waiting.... (i didn't know he was playing blackjack!) So the match is finally over... I sent a friend of mine that was there a text that said "Holy Shit, Alvarez won one!" It was meant to make my friend laugh. LOL, the next thing I know I'm getting a text from Frank saying thanks for the vote of confidence friend. LMAO! I explained that it was just a joke and was assured by my tattle telling friend that it was taken as so.

Flight leaves tonight... can't wait!

Apparently, no one has taken the time to print out and distribute any of FL 100s of rants about 'slopes', gooks, chinks, taco benders, wetbacks, wops, jews, fruits, gays, lesbians, etc. I'm surprised that his vulgar, racist, bigotted writings are tolerated and that he's still allowed to participate in events such as this one. I and my friends choose to boycott this event and any other events that allow trash such as Larry Gunninger in attendence.. These opinions are shared by many including myself.

You say that just because you're the #1 man on FL's hit list and most hated.
So go ahead...name 50 other people that feel that way who share those opinions.

Red-dot cue-ball will definitely favor the younger players (IMO). However, with Olhausen tables, I'd tend to think the hometown players may have an advantage. Isn't Thorsten Hohmann the house pro at this room? I may have to review my vBets! :p

Me, too. I like everything about him as a person, and the UPA is lucky to have him as a representative. He is one of the good guys. We just both agree that we disagree on certain issues pertaining to men's professional pool. He attends every single UPA-sanctioned event, and it is nice to see him do well in Florida.

Then, as a loyal and dedicated member of the AzBilliards Discussion Forum, the duty has now been bestowed on you to give all of us back home the skinny on the activities, maybe a tout sheet on who's playing well and who's not!

Have fun, Timberly! Looking forward to reading all about it! :)

they are probably using the aramith pro cup cue ball(spotted or measles some call it). the one that i have seems a little heavier than the standard aramith cue ball, more comparable to the blue dot cue ball that comes with centennials.

Actually,I think I'm number three on FL's list and that's because I have a low tolerance for his vulgarity and racism and speak out against him. That fact that you stand beside him, shows what type of person you are. I think you should name 50 people that agree with sicko FL's views.

And tell everybody here in all honesty, that when you were in the Marine Corp in Viet Nam, you weren't referring to the enemy as "slopes, gooks, chinks, and everything else you guys could think of. If you say you didn't, then you're a big fat liar. Hey, maybe you don't have to say anything...it still applies.

I can't believe that anyone that's ever read his vulgar, bigotted, racist, hate filled views, would sponsor him or welcome him to ANY pool event (Hopkins,BCA,UPA or otherwise)..

not really my business......but.........you can't bar someone from a tourney just because you don't agree with their views. that would be just as bad as his views.
