flat faced shaft and piloted joint????

after playing pool with a new person to the pool room
i noticed he used a flat faced shaft (ob1) on his 5/16x18 stainless steel piloted jointed cue (tad)
i asked him about that and he said hes played with that set up for awhile and has had no problems
is there a problem with that?? no pilot on the shaft??
wouldnt it affect the hit/playability??

He probably had a shaft made that was flat faced. I have done them and there is no problem. You can't tell when you are playing with the cue.

There are no problems with it. It just does give him the alignment advantage piloted joints are made for.

there is no male part on the shaft to allign to the female indentation
on the joint
