flying with my cues?? HELP!!!

I bought one of these in the W/FS Forum a few years ago. You can usually find something similar at a big tournament from a vendor.

It comes with a strap and will easily hold a 1x2 case with a pair of jeans and couple of shirts and underwear, or a 2x4. I put a TSA approved lock on it and am good to go.

Yeah I would never just check in a cue case by itself. If I needed to travel with my cue, I'd definately get a bag big enough to fit the whole case in.
 
I used to have a large duffel bag where I could just squeeze in my case diagonally and pack clothes etc. Over time it ripped, so I was in search for something else.

What works great is a simple bag designed to carry baseball equipment. They are long enough to hold the entire case, most have harder backing on the bottom to help protect from being thrown around etc. And you can find them smaller to just hold the case and a few items or larger to carry a week's worth of clothes. I used one for Vegas this August and worked great, wrapped case with a towel plus packed around it with clothes, no issues.

Smaller bags can be found for $20 - $30 and larger ones for around $50 - $60, and you can use it for other things just as well.

If you don't trust that, then just UPS or Fedex your equipment back and forth.

Rawlings baseball bat bag -- your case fits right in, put your shoes in there as well along with some socks and t shirts to cushion it.

Did I forget to mention that I carry a one piece snooker cue??? Ha! Ha! got ya!

I think the duffle bag with my clothes packed around it sounds like a great option, thanks.
 
What is the problem with including a case as checked luggage?

On balance, is it better to have a soft or hard case, and what difference does it make?
 
Nothing new here

I use a hard cardboard tube sealed really well
at one end and adequately on the other. Sometimes I
mislabel the contents to keep interest down in airports
When I arrive at my destination I use the tube as a cue case.

I don't know that the beat up looking tube has
done me any favors in a pool room, but I don't
get near as many dumb questions in hotels
and restaurants as I do with a proper cue case.

This is what others suggested. I bought a rolling duffle bag, and packed 10 days of clothes and cue case for Las Vegas BCA Nationals last year.

I usually pack my cues in my regular suitcase, send my cue case without my cues, has worked fine for the last few years without any problems except when I get to the hotel and the valet sees me removing my cues from my luggage and placing them inside my cue case, I've gotten some odd looks from the valet.

Good luck with whatever you decide to do, have a safe trip.

The last time I flew I put my cues in my JB rugged case and then put the case in a cardboard box. I'm sure the case alone would have protected the cues but I was worried about theft. I felt that an obvious cue case would draw more attention from a would be thief than a plain cardboard box.

It's not even the value of the cue that's the real issue. I don't want to lose my player.

The TSA rule sucks, plain and simple. You can beat somebody with a book to if you have a mind to. Another example of government gone wild.
